Been looking at Set Unit Model Variation and it suggest that I can set the texture for a model. I've been playing with this- trying to make a zealot all white by putting Assets\Textures\white32.dds in the texture field with no luck.
If anyone could get this to work, it would be excellent. Being able to dynamically swap unit skins would be awesome, especially for RPGs and whatnot.
this... is incorrect. Tinting a unit white returns it to the original tint color. I was using white tint as an example- the over all intention would be to have multiple zealot skins to choose from when picking your unit in a hero arena.
I'd like to see if this is possible without exporting and importing new models- such a hassle :(
this might sound dumb, but some people don't know the difference
EDIT: as far as i can tell, the model needs to be set up for texture swapping so you might need to request a modified zealot model. There might be a way in Galaxy, i know in wc3 you could swap textures in JASS
EDIT2: i would look at the destructible rocks/doodads because they dynamically change with the tileset

To make the zealot all white u can tint it on actor part. "Event:(U Chose) Action:Set Tint(White)"

Why not just use the modelswap actor command that is used for the Dark Protoss?
That way, you can have the basic Zealot, the Dark Zealot, and the Prisoner Zealot all available as selections depending on what upgrade has been used.

Because I've got 4 custom skins chilling on my desktop that I'd like to use :/
I also want to use both dark and prison zealots as enemies. I am hard to please.

EDIT3: yes, i think the model does have to be made using multiple textures but i haven't tested anything, see here http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/map-development/5675-swap-unit-model-textures/

I have 4 skins I'd like to use (.dds files). If I have to I guess I'll bribe/threaten/ask someone nicely to 'make' zealot models using my skins
