I know the event is there but my problem is that i need it to detect if a unit type enters the distance of ANY other unit on the map. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
I want to cause damage to the unit within the distance of unit type, if i use a periodic event how can i return the unit that is near the unit type to cause daamge? Also, i cant find "pick each unit type" fuction.. it only lets me do unit groups.
Well thats because i have avoided the data editor since beta lol. I always tried to do a work around but i guess your right... so i just add that behavior to the unit? How? =). I should have said this before but these units are working like projectiles... so they enter a distance of an enemy, die and cause damage.
It's how to make an aura, but area damage works almost the same way.
The only difference is that you're not using an "Apply Behavior"-effect but instead you use a "Damage"-effect.

Then register this event for every unit of the unit type (which reacts to any unit).
Otherwise you can use a periodic check:
Needs to be x > 1 since the unit itself counts aswell.

And you fill the unit group with all units of type xx in region y.
Well, but how about doing it via data editor? Behavior, peroidic search effect which damages all units nearby.

Anyone?
I would create a circular region of your favorite size and set it to follow the unit via triggers.
Then make a trigger saying (much better ways to write it to avoid traffic)
Every .5 seconds
Pick all units in [Region Following Unit] and do (actions)
Message to player (Text(picked unit)) "is in your area"
(OR)
Give your main unit the unit tracker behavior from the terrain tracker thingy
I dont think you read the thread lol im not sure what your suggestion does but its certainly not what im looking for :)
There's a tutorial for about the same thing:
