Hey all, I was just wondering, Is there any way to extract the vanilla .dds assets from the editor? I'd like to photoshop the dimensions of some of them to suit my needs.
Edit: Oops.. Looks like this is in the wrong section. Could a mod please help me move this to the correct place? I'm not sure if it's misc development or what =/
Just find any location, where you can select assets in the editor.
The 3 common ones would be:
A data (or trigger?) field, button or texture maybe
The Previewer (not for .dds though, afaik)
Window -> Console -> enter "browse"
Search for your desired asset, right click -> export.
And there is always the possibility of using an MPQ editor; however the files are spread through various MPQ archives (each patch has its own), so either use merged MPQ mode or just use the galaxy editor, should be the easiest way.
Tried MPQ last night.. Couldn't find what i was looking for unfortunately. And yea.. I'm trying to get a .dds image. It stretches horribly when I try to use it directly, so I need to make some modifications. I tried using a screenshot after creating a dummy image to hold the .dds, then photoshopping it.. But for some reason it's not preserving transparency correctly..
Well, Its not that i had the problem withe MPQ editor.. I just don't know where to look. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
The file name is "ui_replay_frame_detail_protoss.dds"
If you could guide me as to how to pull it and open it that would be great. I use photoshop, not gimp btw. AFAIK there should be a dds plugin for photoshop also.
There's a way to export it from the galaxy editor? How? Could you please point me in the right direction here? I did search around but I couldn't find any option that allows me to export the asset. It'll save a lot of trouble if I could do it through galaxy instead of with the MPQ editor.

Never had any issues with it. I am using Gimp + DDS plugin.
Which file are we talking about?

And you could not just export it in the galaxy editor? Works fine for me.
Anyway, the file is located in following MPQ file: "(SC2)/Mods/Core.SC2Mod/base.SC2Assets", Subfolder "Assets/Textures"

Thanks for pointing out the location btw :)
