COpu the droppod, change its art-model to that o the banling, and on impact, instead of it using the create unit effect of X unit, make it a damage effect.

You might check abilities of Overseer Spawn Changeling/Phoenix Gravition Beam, which moves units vertically.
Or maybe you mean Nuke/Drop Pod style falling?
