Hey all, I'm not exactly a map maker, but rather looking for a solution to a small issue. My friends and I love playing some friendly FFAs quite a bit, but it is rather annoying to get kicked out if the game immediately when your last building is destroyed. We'd like to continue spectating the rest of the game afterwards. Is this possible to just adjust a map with the Galaxy Editor to switch a player to the full-on spectator mode upon loss, or is the only way to have the other players leave a building and share vision with the dead player? Any help on this is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Well I can think of a reason why blizzard would kick you out of the game when your last building is destroyed and not give you spectator view. This is simply because if you would have gotten spectator view, then you can inform another player of where someone's defenses are weak, or what kind of attack wave he can expect from what player. This would end up giving a player an advantage over another player.
This being said, yes I think it is possible to modify a map to allow spectator view instead of defeat, but this map would not be usable as a melee map but instead it would be a custom map which only adjusts the defeat conditions. So you would still randomly start at a location, and receive the standard resources etc. but on defeat you'd for example get a dialog with choices: spectate and leave.
Thanks for the response! I know that getting kicked out makes perfect sense in all competitive environments, I was just looking for a way around that for our friendly games. I'm also perfectly ok with it being a custom map and its good to hear that it is possible. Could you possibly give me a tip on how to do this in the editor or an example of someone who already has? Thanks again!
Try remove the default loss conditions, and then when someone 'loses', it shows an image of the 'leader' template (look at helrals library) and shows the entire map. Thats basically the replay panel with APM, income, Units etc. Not complete, but is good :)

I imagine you can kill all that players units and simply do not start the Game - Player defeat action.
But not sure, currently also looking for a better way to spectate losers.
