For my First big venture into the world that is the data editor. I thought I would make a super sized Colossus unit, and modify the thermal laser weapon to shoot a third laser that goes up to down.
I was able to easily edit the two lasers the weapon has to increase the distances the "cut" from left to right, however im running into problems try to add a "new" third laser.
I have made (what I thought) was all the correct actors and effects, everywhere there was a "normal" and a "reverse" effect, i added a "middle" one. same with the actors, everything looks like it matches up perfect, but no dice, would anyone be willing to give me a nudge in the right direction? Does not seem like theres any tutorials heavy on learning actors yet, so its a little hard to get into =)
Note: whoever helps me gets a free imaginary cookie!!!
(Ive linked the map below,)
Given this a simple bump as ive had no luck, going to head to bed after 10+ hours of editor time went into this, and still no solution, my head is hurting a little =D

Well you call all the actors with their editor names, but you actually have to use the Ids (or an Alias).
So for example your Host Launch Subject should be "ColossusAttackLaunchSiteReverse2" instead of.. "ColossusAttackImpactSiteMiddle". You know an Impact Site on Launch Site is quite weird too. :P (Did you want to type "LaunchSite" there?)
You could also just change the Id in the actor properties. (Right click on the actor -> Modify Object)
Oh and if you wonder why the laser isn't moving accordingly or why the launch point is on the ground.. First a Colossus doesn't have the (SOpAttach)Weapon04 attachment point. (You can view them in the previewer, which you can find in the window menu.) And second you forgot to change the target of the MoverMove event-message from your "ColossusAttachBeamMiddle".
I noticed all the name changing a bit ago, and fixed that (darn the hidden names) However sir, the winning fix was your "You know an Impact Site on Launch Site is quite weird too. :P (Did you want to type "LaunchSite" there?)" I would have NEVER caught that simple typo (and I was comparing actor to actor for over 2 hours).
Needless to say, my Omega Colosus now shoots 3 lasers in different directions (tho i still dont understand any of what the actors are actually doing lol)! thank you very much Xolsom, youve made my day.
This is located in the actor "ColossusAttackLaunchSiteMiddle (Unnamed) " (tho the "middle" was made by me, you can find the two default ones there) this can be found Actors>site>Site UNIT> Not Doodad, thats at least for this weapon.
Then located under: Beam (Simple) > CActorModel > Not Doodad > "ColossusAttackBeamMiddle (Unnamed) " The field "Host launch - Subject needs to = the ID of your launch actor. which is where my problem was. I had made it link to the ID of the IMPACT and not the LAUNCH.
We have for long been trying to solve how you change the point of which projectiles launch, many have had this problem where projectitles launches from the centre of the unit and not from the weapon.
If you can please help us, will be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ice_bane @ B.net EU
