I'm trying to duplicate a zergling so that I can have 2 types in one map (one normal, one huge). I want to only duplicate what I have to duplicate (so I'm not duplicating their models, attack/move/stop etc, or sounds), but the original keeps being renamed to Zergling Copy (even though I already renamed Zergling Copy to Uberzergling), that has various "green" resources, and such. It's a little confusing.
EDIT: Actually, you know what? Ignore this. As usual, I find the answer out soon after asking the question. >.>
Maybe im copying wrong but the copy always has a lot missing fields compared to the original. It's a pain to set all those blank fields the same as the original.
for ex: the copied unit is missing visual projectile effects and sounds
If you double click on the unit in the list of units, and then have the Field Values "Copy From" the original unit, it should fill in all the missing fields. This is after you duplicate the unit.
I've been wondering how to do this since I am just making a clone of unit that has a different weapon and effect. Visually and audibly, they're the same unit.
I'd rather not duplicate the actors/models/sounds and stuff. What would be the minimal way of doing this?
It would be great to assign the same actor to multiple units but I have no idea how to do that.
When duplicating a model "One time" its enough to keep all the actors to default and just assign them to the new unit.
However, keep in mind. You ALWAYS have to assign the normal Actor AND the attack actor. In this case. Marine and Marine Attack.
Otherwise you wouldn't have any sounds or attack effect.
If you want to make two duplicates. Lets say. Super Marine and Uber marine.
Each would need their own weapon, model actor, attack actor and effect model.
This is because you can adjust weapon damage on the effect, weapon speed on the weapon model.
And both actors need to be bound to one unit as you can not bind them to several.
However, sounds and such do not need to be duplicated as there is no need to change those you can just edit the attack for alternate sounds.

So what was it that you figured out? I keep having the same/similar problems.
Thanks.

The way I got it to work was by copying the root unit and the actors, but i think that may be wrong.
