I have duplicated the "Medic - Heal" ability only checking the fist box. I had chane the name, the button, the requirements, and the bioogical target filters from Required to Allowed. Then I went to the effect tab and change the AI Notify Effect and Effect to my created "[Effect] Shield battery (Create Healer)."
problem is my caster dont restore shields everythng else works well.
I know my effect works. I had tested that under a diffrent ability.
ok I got something going on now. I deleted my abilty and started over. This time I copied the medivac heal and the medivac heal effect change up some vaules in the effects so it will restore shields at the cost of the shields. Then I gave the ability to my unit to use. started the game up and My ability worked, but in odd areas around my unit. still figuring things out.
@Selfcreation: GoThanks for the tip, that is true.
The first shield battery that I made it was all from scratch The Ability was the "Battery" and not the "Effect - Target" and for the effect I created the "create healer" It was pretty simple to do. I even created the button. The "Effect - target" ability has more to offer than the "battery".I now have two shield batteries one with "battery" and the other with "effect - target". The reason for this is that "Battery" dosn't have autocast flags while the "Effect - Target" does.
I don't understand....I tried the same thing by creating my own effect-target ability duplicating from the Medic-Heal.
Everything should be able to go smoothly, but the structure I'm accompanying the ability with still requires to turn when trying to recharge a unit's shields.
The Arc that was explained didn't really seem to affect this problem even when it is set to 0 (The same as 360).

just a heads up.
your always BETTER OFF making your abilityes from scrach . i found that duplicating always causes a bunch of problems.
what i do if i wana copy a ability . I go effect by effect , behaviour by behaviour and essentially copy it.
and this way it allows you to learn faster and force you to learn thing you might have otherwise overlooked.

I got a problem with the autocast. That it only works if the Target unit passes my structure facing angle.
Try setting the arc of the ability to 360?

@Vietman: Go 0 9sn't 360. 0 forces the unit to turn to it's target, 360 allows it to use the ability no matter where it's facing.
