If there still no easy fix for penetration round ability for Raynor i would want make a that when you choose ability to use it would display enemys in line who will be effected by ability like in original one but in whole line from raynor to maximum range of ability. like in picture below displayed, in cyrcle the animation that i would want to see all the way this line.
Data- only? Not a chance, this impact marker is hard-coded to use the area specified by the Cursor Effect of the ability, and it will always just mark enemies in a circle around the cursor. It does not support anything else, not even stuff like area angles or areas originated at the caster or whatever.
With triggers it might be possible, you would need to track the current casting state of the ability, the mouse movement and project a line from the caster. Also, you would need a way to simulate the impact marker (should be possible by just attaching the model and sending tint color actor messages to the unit actors).
However, if you track casting state and mouse movement anyway, you should be able to simulate the red target line as well.
