im a quite good triggerer, but im a total nub in data editor and im doing everything to prevent working with it.
but now i need it so i need some advice :D
is it possible to create 2 weapons:
- default melee weapon (can only attack ground units in melee range and does 0 damage, 1 second cooldown)
- default ranged weapon (can attack all units in a medium range and does 0 damage, 1 second cooldown)
the problem is, each weapon should fit to ALL units. for example if i give the standart melee weapon to a baneling it would be cool if the sounds of the weapon would fit to the baneling sounds. the model should also fit, or it should just not have any model. (i think the only possibility here is no sound an no model?)
additionally, if i want to remove all weapons from a unit, is there any way to do this in trigger editor? i could find "remove weapons from unit" but there you have to specify the weapon ID. since a unit CAN have multiple weapons (but doesnt need to) its quite strange because i would need smth like "remove all weapons from unit". also, is it possible to set the armor of a unit to 0 with triggers? :)
btw, is it possible to change unit model (actor) during the game with triggers?
k. for the weapons. it is possible to have a range and melee weapon on 1 unit.
the attack animation is bound the the unit and not the weapon. so that should also not be a problem.
the sound is bound to the weapon. so if you want different sounds per units you need different weapons per unit.
remove weapons from unit. there is no easy way for trigger and the way it would work is clumbsy and dumb. just go to the data editor. pick the unit and remove the weapons.
set armor... nope. can only be done in data editor. if you want to change it midgame in the data editor you need to create upgrades and than activate them in the trigger editor.
model same story
the trigger editor is nice and easy to use. but without the use of the data editor you can't create the effects you are looking for. think its time to start read tutorials or ask someone to do it for you.
so the attack animation depends on the actor of the unit? thats perfect. the sound isnt that important. so i could use one weapon for all units, good.
i cant just remove the weapon from the unit in data editor, i need to do all this actions in trigger editor, cause im developing a custom trigger based unit system (doesnt matter for now)
armor seems to be the biggerst problem. i could create a buff with armor multiplier 0, but then i couldnt add armor with buffs later on. also there is no way to change armor with triggers directly :(
anyone has an idea how to set the armor of a specific unit to 0 with triggers without making it impossible to set armor later?
