I'm trying to create a small floating platform (3x3) that would act as a bridge for units. I started duplicating the Zhakul'Das light bridge unit, actor and model. I duplicated the footprint and edited it to be 3x3. The new platform unit shows up ok in the map, but units over the platform are able to walk off the edges and fall, so I tried to change the footprint to be 5x5 and block the border squares but it didn't work.
Changing the model size made me see its something with the model itself not the footprint. The unit falls when its not over the model anymore and it comes back up when its over the model again. How can I limit unit movement to the actual footprint? Can anyone help me fix this one?
Well you see the walkability thing IS part of the model. Same applies to Mar Sara Bridges and those stuff. Well you get the idea.
Personally I would use Mar Sara Bridges since they are more square than the light bridge, and make them invisible via triggers. You can put whatever doodads you want in its place to create a custom bridge.
As for the footprints, you dont have to use footprints to be honest. Carve your own footprint for the bridge using the Pathing Brush. Add Ground pathibility where the bridge exists. and use no pathing where it isnt. Voila.
@Zolstice: Go The problem is the platform is actually a unit, and I'd like to spawn it wherever I want. I can't believe the footprint editor is that broken, it doesn't even save the changes to pathing.
@DrSuperEvil: Go Thanks for the tip. Working with raw data is not a problem for me, but my lack of experience with footprints may be a problem. I'll try it anyway.
EDIT: I can see the pathing data is missing. But I don't understand the values or how I could create them/copy from somewhere else to make it work. I tried but it changed nothing in game.
With the new patch 1.4.2 the footprint editor is supposed to be fixed, so I got back to it and tried to fix my footprint, but nothing changes. I can't get my new footprint to work like the Zhakul'Das Bridge footprint.

It purely is a fault with the borders. You need to manually correct them in raw data mode

I believe with bridges you need to use the pathing editor to make the borders of the footprint pathable to stop some AI bug?
