I duplicated the standard BC model, and replaced it with the one for the Hurricane, BattlecruiserHurricane.m3. However, now it does not fire its weapons when I test the map. I'm still a huge newbie at this so I'm just trying to get a feel for everything before jumping into making my map. Can someone help me with this?
If that is the case then you duplicated your battlecruser incorrectly; in other words, something is not linked right, namely your weapon. When duplicating a unit you have to duplicate it's missile actor model as well.
These tutorials should be somewhat of a help there:
I'm sure by the time I had finished posting that you already had it done just by looking at the screenshots I was uploading. In any case let me know if you need any more help after.
I think I did it! But now, for some reason, my battlecruiser duplicate is filled with superfluous stuff- like 4 copies of the battlecruiser actor, 3 copies of the portrait. I can't do Remove-Type, so I can't remove them. Anyway to fix this/prevent it?
This goes back to what I said previously about proper duplication. The 1st tutorial I linked before will help there. But in general, when duplicating a unit, all you want to duplicate is the unit actor, it's turret(s), it's effects, and it's weapon (and weapon unit if it is available to copy, otherwise you'll have to find it and make one yourself). The rest most of the time are not needed.
You will need to delete each of the extra stuff individually. Check your actor events as duping sometimes also creates several copies of those which may be problematic as it can cause conflict.

Hi.
I duplicated the standard BC model, and replaced it with the one for the Hurricane, BattlecruiserHurricane.m3. However, now it does not fire its weapons when I test the map. Does your model have an attack animation?
Sigh... I didn't even think of that, and to be honest, I don't know and don't know to find out. To the wiki!

Also when you say fire the weapons, do you mean visual wise or does it not actually do damage?
Neither. I expected it to use the BC's laser's in some respect, but no.

(Also, what did you do to create this new battlecruser? )
If by "new battlecruiser" you mean the model, I just used one of the unused ones compiled in the editor ;)

Thanks for the help btw

Ok, these are some easy steps to properly create a new model for a actor.
1) Locate the model of your current unit
2) Right click on the model and click on view linked type.
3) Once it brings you to the model tab, right click on the selected model and duplicate it.
4) When duplicating, only select the model at the top, DO NOT check any other boxes.
5) Rename your newly created model and then locate the model field on the right.
6) Chose your model file. (here being the huricane Bcruzer)
7) Go back to your unit, go to the actor on the left side. Then find the model field on the right and select the new model we just finished creating.
And there you have it! Your custom model!
Thanks!

Tbh, I'm exhausted at the moment and about to go to bed, but I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
