I want to be able to create barracks that spawn marines.
I want it so that you can control the marines, but also they cannot be told to attack
or move more than 10 away from thier barracks.
Since region events are not dynamic, how could i accomplish this?
Give the barracks an aura, which applies another behavior to marines if the aura wears off, which periodically orders or teleports them back to the barracks.
Even if I keep reapplying the Buff to the marine, the buff is stackable. Reapplying a buff periodically using a search effect will not reset the buff. Only stack it.
I need a way to actually reset the buff so that it doesnt expire.
Well, sticking with the apply buff approach, add a second behavior to the unit with a requirement or validator that the first behavior is not on the unit, which handles the ordering. So if the Marine moves out of range of the aura, the aura buff will expire shortly after, and the order behavior will take effect.
Erm why not just make it even more simple and have the marines as an ammo unit of an arm magazine ability with an external magazine. The arm magazine ability already comes with a leash range so should be able to do all that you want just with the one ability.

Because work arounds stink when you have a bucket of tools that will do the job perfectly. A marine is a Unit, not a Projectile.
Neither are the ammo units. Also why make a mountain out of a mole hill when one ability can do what you would need a whole legion of other data types, well 5 in your case. The external ammo units can be selected and ordered to attack stuff and will attack targets within range. The only down side is if the host unit has a weapon and the attack ability it will order the ammo units to attack what is in the scope of the host weapon.

I like that idea, How would I 'trigger' a behavior when the aura wears off? (without using triggers)

You'll probably want an apply buff effect in the aura buff's expire effect.

Kafaso is right, thats works pretty well
i also found that setting the stack count to 1 does cause it to refresh if you reapply the behavior.
