looks rather simple, but ok :) i know i've tried to do a lot with 3Ds and keep giving up cause its pissing me off, lol.
I think getting a good metal texture will make it look really good :)
Lucky you. I was unable to find texturer... So I had to learn photoshop :P .
BTW It would be better to place imageshack link then stupid attachment image. Coz it sucks. Image is floating all over the screen.
Neck is too wide. Maybe add 2 parts there. And barrel. remove those holes. You can do it via normal map.
Well you can leave it you want. Not su much more polys...
Looks decent enough, but what i find issue with is you aren't working from concept and relying on seperate geometry pieces a bit much to imply detail rather than nice hearty large chapes in the base model which can then be textured with awesomeness.
If you think of a warhammer piece or some other object that people paint as a hobby, they're often times not very complex and come as 1 shape. The detailing all comes from the texture, I would ditch those 3 little black shapes at the base of the barrel and instead think of your geometry as a white base, even change it to be all white.
You should get into texturing like tigerija did, it's fun and will make you a more well rounded 3d artist!
Mind showing us the wireframe also?
Looks like you are getting some nasty shading on the model, most likely due to your smoothing groups. Areas like the corners/bottom of the support box, the bottom of your support column, and the suppressor of your muzzle.
Hi guys, so i started modelling 3 days ago(i think it's 3 days).
And for the last few hours i have been working on this Turret: (Picture in Attachments)
It is supposed to be placed on a tank and/or Tower of some kind :P
All i want to know is: Is it any good ? :)
Thanks guys ;)
Cant get the pic to load. can you just attach it to your post?

I think we'd be happy to comment if there was something to comment on! There's no picture
EDIT: Just added the picture to attachments instead of link :)

Look ok. But I think there is no need for those holes to be modeled in. You can mimic that via normal map.
Those spikes on the head. That might be changed somehow. They look strange, dunno.
Overall, looks quite good.
Looks like a good first attempt to me.
Is that textured? If you can detail the base of that cannon a bit with textures I bet it would look sexy.
Its not textured... Normal map can add details also. We're talking about basic shape here.
Hi again guys, thanks for the responses :)
About the texture: I'm working with a friend on a project, where I make the models, he makes the textures for them ;)
@tigerija: You are right about the spikes, i will have a look on how i can make them look better :)
Attachment: Also, i made this Base model for the Turret this Cannon is supposed to be mounted to (Very rough model still planning how to make it)

My god o.O That would look awesome on my cannons xD
Btw. nice models :D
It looks a bit like something from Supreme Commander ? or is it just me ? :P
