Just as the title says...........
Im going to bring the beta models and the alpha models back to life. This time with better looks as i am going to relie on Concept art rather then in-game art.
If you know anything i haven't posted about the detail in the individual posts then please go ahead and tell me here. I am only modeling what needs to be modeled for this. I suck with textures so if anyone would provide them i would love it. Anyway wish me luck!
The predator was a flying unit that looked like a viking + a wraith kind of and had blades on the tips
The current terratron is only air and is meant for arcade only. My version will be a Ground unit that has animations more like the ones in the Apirl Fools video blizzard put up.
The Original Purifier is also known as the soul hunter. It was a mix of a stalker and a flattened carrier and a High Templar.
Omegalisk is more data than art since the omegalisk tentacles are already in the campaign dependencies. Just throw in a returning missile with a funky mover and you have all you need.
Yeah i see what you mean and blizzards "Stank" model looks just like the concept art just it has particles and SM_Glow light effects added to the textures.
IF i do the omegalisk i will use stank as a base. I say if because i don't get how the "spine crawler" model's attack animation works. I mean in the sc2 editor it just wiggles around a little, but in game with actors it stretch's the isolated tentacle section of the model?!?!
Edit: i plan to have the roof spikes turn into spine crawler tentacles on attack
Do not bother doing the Predator, it's in Heart of the Swarm as a Campaign unit. ;)
You can even actually spot it in the BlizzCon trailer, in-game, attacking the Hyperion and some Wraiths.
The Terra-tron is also fully animated and can be made into a unit with the data editor only...
As for the Omegalisk, you can just slap on some of those spine crawlers on its back and it'll essentially be an Omegalisk. Doing that doesn't even require you to model the unit, all you have to do is use the data editor and actors, mostly.
Projects are still on going although the shuriken is giving me hell right now, i keep converting it from "editable mesh" to "Editable Poly" to "Editable mesh" again to do what i need to do. 3Dsmax its fidgety like that Q.Q. I wish i could turn the mesh into a spline so every time i move a vertex it wont move the unwanted ploy attached to it >:(
Look at the roach tentacle model it uses unique omegalisk textures. Tentacles work by them having their reference set by actor events to attach a hardpoint to the actor of the returning missile launched by the unit like a beam. If tentacles are used as the missile actor they auto behave as they should. For an example look at the WDE about the overseer weapons. Tentacles require the Attacher bone.
