Recently, i´ve experimented with creating custom textures for some of the units and stumbled upon some issues which result in that i cant use the textures.
I think we all know the lag-bug that was introduced by a recent patch when you replace the texture of standard units. However, i have red somewhere, that if you export the model of which you want a different texture on and then give the model the new texture manually, it should work. So i tried that. But still, nothing, all i see when in import the extracted model with changed texture path is the annoying grey orb of doom. I´ve already red through solutions found in different threads, but nothing seems to fix the problem.
What i do step by step is:
Extract the model from the editor (to make sure that its the newest version, when i import this extracted model, it works fine),
Rename the model (it also doesnt work if i keep the name),
Change the texture path with "Editor" or with a Hex Program (i tried both, but as soon as the path is changed, the model is not displayed in the editor)
I dont get it. I know that my texture works, seeing how it does work when i simply replace the texture i want to (but it lags like hell, obviously). I know that the exported model works, seeing how it works if i dont change the path. And my Hex Program doesnt seem to fuck with the model, seeing how the model works again when i change the path back.
Help, please.
