AI in brood war can shut down a lot faster than that. Even as fast as 2 minutes. It's all hardcoded problems.
According to our tests, "AI Time" in sc2 leaks ticks at a rate of 33% every 10 minutes. As long as you avoid that, and as long as there aren't any other major issues we've yet to discover, I don't see why it would shut down.
I did a repeated waves test of the sort. kept sending each of two allied AI their own same wave over and over. One of them stops for some unexplained reason.
Mesk, have you noticed any difference between setting the player property to
Contol: Computer
AI: Computer
and
Control: Computer
AI: Default?

Never tested that. I think without one of those things can break.
Triggered AI waves break very, very easily if they don't have a time to wait that is a multiplier of unit build times. But it also wouldn't surprise me if they are bugged anyways.
In starcraft Broodwar the AI shuts down after an hour or so. How about in SC2?

having them wait seem to have solved the issue. Haven't tested making the AI send the same wave (using a variable) over and over yet.
