Well, this is my most deficient area. And when I try to see tutorials I even write down most of the things on the video so I can analyze them later. But I still don't understand fully how the Data editor works. I entered the wiki and still haven't fully understood actors. Since I have a base on programming, I understand triggers, but with the Data editor it's just a whole different story. But I did managed to find some examples in the wiki so I can have a better grasp around the data editor part:
"Marine Attack
The action actor used by the marine every time it fires the Marine - C-14 Gauss Rifle weapon created by the Marine - Gauss Rifle (Damage) effect. The actor determines that the Blood Target Impact model is shown when the weapon hits units that are known as flesh (probably by the biological attribute), the flash type when hitting shields and the little Marine Attack Launch flare at the Weapon00 attachment point produced whenever the weapon is fired. The actor is also responsible for the launch and impact sounds of the weapon."
Perhaps someone with more experience can add more examples like the one above, explaining a little bit more? I watched some tutorials on how to make abilities, but when the person starts adding Effects, Actors, Models, Movers, etc. I just get really lost. I love examples, at least for me, it's just the best way to learn.
As stated in the wiki the Combat: Damage Map - Model field determines the model used on damage, the Combat: Impact Map - Model field determines the model used when the missile/damage/create persistent effect used to create the actor impacts and the Combat: Launch Model field determines the model created at the launch site when the action actor is created.
With the maps they do take into account the textures of the unit and some of these flags are added by the unit attribute flags.
So what problem are you having with actors?
If you want an example of what I can do with actors just look at my walker, turret simulation or autoharvester demo maps.

Thank you in advance!
