FIXED, read at the bottom for solution in case your having the same problem
Hi, I am very new to the SC2 Editor. Although, I catch on quick as I did with many other editors. This editor is similar to what I used for Portal 2, but with a higher level of customization.
I've posted this because I've exhausted all of the guides I was able to find. Most of them are for an older version of the editor I guess. (I have 1.4.2)
Here's what I'm doing, maybe that would be more effective than me just trying to say "how do I do this.."
Goal: Make a Unit that is bigger than the Barracks with the same model, and call it "Nuclear Command Center"
First I find the Barracks Unit, then duplicate it, change the name to "Nuclear Command Center" and use the suggested ID. Click OK.
Second I find the Barracks Actor, then duplicate it, change the name to "Nuclear Command Center" and use the suggested ID. Click OK.
Third, in the Nuclear Command Center Actor at the top I change the Unit Name to: Nuclear Command Center, then change the art:scale to 2 for x,y,z. So the overall growth factor is 2.
At this point I've duplicated the Barracks Unit and Actor, and changed all pointer/name/ids. Yet still when I go to place my Nuclear Command Center it gives me a null model.
Any help would be much appreciated.
In the attached images, I have circled what may be the problem. What stops me from changing it, I don't know. It looks like they just aren't pointing at each other, but rather at the barracks. Will try to create unit from scratch.
Fix, You just have to create a new unit from scratch. This is because it won't let you change the pointers when you duplicate it. Maybe if you just "Copy from" when you duplicate it...
No... lol.. the problem was when you copied the barracks model, the model fields were reset to the ID of the new unit, and because theres no model that has that ID it returns null. The fix would be going into the actor field and selecting somthing other than Barracks2 or NuclearCommandCenter

Check the actor events, you will find it has some that are still linked to the baracks and barracks flying with animations involving the morphing.

In case any of you were wondering, there is now a better way to duplicate units which does not run into these kinds of issues: use Templates!
