I wanna make a multiplayer mod that uses the classic melee maps and some content of the campaign.
I know that I need to create an extension mod but what dependencies do I use. When I select void multiplayer and campaign, the editor says that both can't be used at the same time.
When I try to test my changes, I need to choose a test map but I can't find any melee maps in the maps folder.
I downloaded a units test map and tried it with that but it seems that all my changes don't have an effect.
If I test it with a custom map I made, the game doesn't start like a regular match but like a match that I won.
Argh..this really bugs me. Sorry for my newbie questions :(
Would be great if you could help me with that.
Also youtube is a bad source for tutorials, not a single one on how to setup a mod.
You can't have both of those dependencies because some of campaign units are modified with extra abilities or simply having different stats from melee, since melee is being balanced and campaign not. I would recommend if you took campaign dependency and then deleted those extra abilities / balance stuff.
Every map by default has a script that starts melee game, it's responsible for win conditions, starting resources, units etc. If you dont want your map to end like this delete this in triggers.
Unfortunately, that's what I've already tried. If I make a new extension mod, the editor says that I can build all units from the campaign, when I jump into the test map, it only shows a few of these units.
I went through the Galaxy Wiki and couldn't find a tutorial on how to set up an extension mod.
It's really simple.
I only want to make a mod where I can build dragoons and reaver and other units in a multiplayer match, no big deal.
When I know more about the editor, I would try to work on some more unique things but I wanna start it simple.
You have to double check that the dragoons appear in the gateway or robo bay or wherever you want them. That is located in the Data section of the editor.
A simple multiplayer mod with some units from the campaign must be possible.
Lets start from scratch:
New -> Extension Mod -> Dependencies (Legacy of the Void campaign).
If I look for the warp gate in the data browser, it shows me four warp gates (void, swarm, liberty, void_campaign).
I don't even know which one I actually use when I test it ingame.
Is there a tutorial for setting up a test map for an extension mod? Can I test it with a regular melee map?
I've added a build sentry ability to the terran scv and it doesn't show up, like everything I do gets ignored.
Anyone out there who could make a small video tutorial on how to setup and test an extension mod and maybe include the build dragoon ability?
From that point I could go on and do my stuff.
It's killing all good spirit when you wanna start something and even the start fails.

Galaxy wiki might prove more useful than youtube.
Thanks for your reply.

This makes no sense at all.
