hey, in wc3 there were these portals which can teleport units to a certain region. so i want that when i give my unit the order to go into the teleporter, it should teleport to a certain region/other teleporter. is this possible to be done with the data editor?
i also thought about using triggers, but i dont know if it works. so the teleporter is actually a transporter unit and every unit loaded in the transporter is teleported via trigger to the target area. i havent tried it yet and i dont like it that much, because i have to create a trigger for every teleporter ...
and i dont know if its possible that every units of every player can be loaded as transport in the teleport unit. i mean normally you can load only your own units in your transporter... is this possible maybe with the interact ability?
edit: i set the target filter of the transport ability from player to player, enemy, neutral, ally. and now you can load hostile units :-D
You could set it up where you have nydus worm like units set up and when they go in they are told to exit at the other area and vice versa. Might require triggers. Although I remember in sc1 they had that transport thing which worked automatically if I remember correctly.
Still it is just a form of teleport you want and you could set the destinations in data using a persistent offset for each gate pair or use a large search area for establishing which is the partner gate but that would involve several duplicate gate pairs.
hey, hey. i have a half solution. the unit which wants to teleport is loaded into a transport. via trigger the unit is made hidden, the cargo is unloaded, and the hidden unit is moved to a region and made unhidden. works pretty good. but no i have another problem. i use fighter squads with external ammunition. when these units are loaded into the transport. the ammunition units are destroyed... :(
i want an autmated teleporter. so you make a move order on the teleporter and the unit is teleported (data/trigger), but not when the unit is just in a certain area. to use the cargo ability whas perfect for that, except the problem that the ammunition units are destroyed (but why???). does anyone know a solution, this would be ery great...
How about to use a trigger, which teleports a unit and his ammo units when a unit enters teleport area? Teleport area can be attached to teleport unit, and it can be small enough that the whole thing will look like a unit come close to the teleport unit end "enters" it.
I have a better plan. Use the Battery Ability on the teleporter. It when right clicked by a unit repeatedly casts an effect on the rightclicking unit until it is given other orders. Have the effect cast a global search which excludes self and had a Unit Type validator to find another portal of the right type (yes you will need to make several portal pairs). The search area then creates a persistent on the other portal that then recalls the units from the other portal and finally applies an issue order to stop (to stop using the battery ability).

could work. is there a way to adress a certain cargo unit via trigger?
I remember reading in one of the forums someone making a stargate map, he had a similar issue and solved it.
Edit: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/data/21969-solved-reverse-recall/#p4 Try asking him.

The recall method would probably be easier

hm doesnt sound bad. when i attach a region to a teleport unit, what effect does it have?

Teleport area's center coincides with teleporter unit's center. It's the only effect. So if teleport unit moves, an area moves with him.
Teleport trigger could be like this:
When a unit enters teleport area, search for ammo units, and teleport them and their owner to some remote point.
