HI, I've been trying to create a channel type ability for my Hero. He basically doesn't regenerate energy or shields normally, I wanted the channel to restore it over time. (He turns invisible, the Archon merge animation plays while he's performing the channel and restoring vitals, then reappears.) It would be a channel that I turn on and off, with no time limit so he can restore his vitals as long as needed. You don't need to go through the trouble of explaining it all if you don't want, but any pointers would be great, it's tough figuring out where to start.
Quickest way would be to create an ability of type Behavior.
Set buttons for on/off and add the buttons to the unit's command card. Have the behavior applied by the ability call an effect periodically to regenerate life/whatever over time. The same behavior can disable movement, attack, abilities and so on. Actor-side, you may want to add actor events to the unit's main actor to play animations when the behavior becomes "on" and "off".

I believe the buff type of behavior has a regen field for energy life and shields that could be used.

Like StargusMapster said a buff behavior seems like a good idea. for your actors i would would use behavior on to model swap for the archon merging animation and model swap it out for the original when the buff is turned off.
