What is a diffuse map? Does it have to have shadows? Does this determine/dictate the color tones? Or is it just say a color and other maps will dictate the tone?
What is a specular map?
What is a normal map?

diffuse = base texture
normal = basically bump mapping. illusion of edges on a flat polygon
specular = ooooo shinny. light reflective stuff
emissive = glow. but emissive and specular together currently cause a bug with cloaking so only 1 or the other can be used.
