Smash CTV
The goal I have in mind for this map is to create a fast-paced, arcade-style Smash TV game. Player units are controlled using WASD 8-directional movement, and aiming is independently controlled by the mouse. Different units are selectable and are equipped with different guns, special abilities, and defensive abilities.
The game is going to be relatively short, but very tough and full of surprises. This is not intended to have similarities to the popular Smash TV map for Starcraft 1 - you do not accrue multiple units, and you don't combine anything to upgrade them. Instead, you're faced with masses of enemies and bullets that take you out in a single blow, forcing you stay on your toes and focus on the madness. Boss battles are going to be long, include multiple phases, and be very difficult.
I hope to have a playable version that includes the first level of the game and 3 selectable player units by July 13th, when battle.net becomes usable again to those with the beta client.
Slightly dated video, updates to follow!

How is this game coming along, are you still working on it? I would love to test the game, I love SmashTV
yeah it's pretty tough with 1 player. although this was before i revamped things a bit. game runs a bit smoother now, shootnig works better, and you get weapon upgrades. also, of course, it is much easier with 4 people. and, in addition to that, powerup drops (similar to arcade smash tv) are not yet implemented.
keep in mind though - this game is meant to be tough. i don't want anyone beating this in one try!
Well looks like you're actually trying to do a remake of the original Smash TV game rather than the SC1 map.
Good work so far. Hopefully, difficulty can scales up depending on the amount of players involved? That last scene looked like you didn't have a chance.
And baddies coming from all sides like that... even if you could fly you'd never survive an all out attack from all sides. The player seems like its shooting too slow and the only thing that made the arcade smash tv not impossible to beat was the large number of temporary weapon upgrade spawns.
Glad you're looking forward to it! I should have a new video up in not too long to show weapon upgrades, unit selection, actual path selecting (so you don't have to type in levels...), better pathing, and mplayer.
I love you for this lol, this looks awesome I loved this game.
