I'm just looking for stuff free to work with. The most I can stretch out is books to research with.
Flash may not be for you then, you can get a free trail ... However flash itself can be pricey, lucky I was able to get a studen edition for super cheap.
There is a free flex builder you can download which let's you program flash applications, it's made by adobe and many large companies use that instead, only catch is you don't get the mc library/GUI you get with flash
And you don't need books, I've never used a flash book in my life google + tutorials all the way.
all those games are in fash... 99% of games you play in your browser are done in flash (the other 1% would be java applets which are quickly going away)
sc2mapster online, is in flash. Actionscript is one of the easiest languages there is to learn. though as3 is a bit harder than as2, its a lot more like java which in turn makes it easier.

You can start programing flash in two ways, 1) download the trail/buy flash or 2) dl the free... well it use to be called flex, it has a new name now, but its a IDE for actionscript.
Also what most people dont know, is what as3 brought to the table, adobe air, which lets you turn flash applications into real desktop applications for pc or mac. these programs can use any system information like a real program and is not limited to your normal browser flash application.
ebays desktop app is programed in adobe air/flex
lets also not forget adobe air lets you publish apps for the andriod.
