    Quote from Forge_User_25606499: Go

    Tutorial made 25.11.2011 (Editor version 1.4.2 - 20141 - EU)

Making copy of unit is easier after patch 1.4.0

I hope that my tutorial helps newbies to make a new unit and get started with data editing.

Goal of this tutorial is to make copy of some unit with more damage and different name but without making changes to default values of unit. All actors, models and sound will work too.

This is easy way to make a hero unit for your map.

1, 2) Open data editor (F7) and select the unit you want to copy and right click - select "Duplicate unit..."

    Check:

[x] Actor of unit (picture of unit) [x] Actor of unit with word "Attack" [x] Effect(s) with (damage) (Use "Explain link" to see is that damage effect linked to other effects) [x] Weapon(s) of unit [ ] all the rest

    3) Modify damage amount of your unit. (Effects tab) 4) Change Combat: Attribute Bonus+ to add more damage against different unit types 5) Rename your unit on "Unit: Name" (Units tab)

This just very, very simple and short version of unit duplication. I hope that this updated version helps someone. Many tutorials of that thing are outdated.

Thank you. This was very easy to follow. But do I have to do something extra to get the attack sounds? I copied a zergling and the selecting sounds are there but there aren't any sounds when it attacks.

I ended up just turning the experience gained completely off and adding experience manually through a trigger when the unit gets a kill.

I don't think I understand what you're talking about. Can you give me more detail?

If I disable the herolevel behavior the hero can't level up at all. I dont' see the "Gameplay Constants data type" anywhere in the herolevel behavior or on the hero unit.

In the herolevels ability in the Behavior: Share Filters I have everything excluded and in the Target Filters I have everything Excluded except for in the kills. In the behavior kills I exclude everything but the Enemy. If I exclude the enemy then the hero never gains experience even from his own kills, but if I do not exclude it he gains experience by just being near dying enemies.

I have heroes in my map and I only want them to gain experience when they get a kill. The problem I am having is that the hero will gain experience simply by being near any enemy units that are dying.

I've changed all sorts of the veterancy settings and none seem to turn it off. I've searched all over the forum and found slightly related topics but couldn't find a solution to my problem. Anyone know how to make it so heroes' only gain experience through their own kills?
