In the left 2 die game the merc firebats initially have the incinerator gauntlets while normal firebats dont. I looked at the differences between the two and theyre almost identical. They have the same weapon, the upgrade is the same. and theres no trigger i see giving the merc firebats the incinerator upgrade when researched. How do i set it so the merc firebats have the incinerator gauntlet attack while the other trained ones dont until its upgraded?
i have the basic SCV, and if i just want to modify a few things about for example the missel turret, theres 4 different ones due to all the dependencies i loaded. Do i have to keep it consistent or can i use any?
also which category changes tech tree dependencies? I want to allow turrets to be built without engineering bay.
Not to spam with just a complement but ive been looking for a post like this for months... with this and some blizz mods ill probably learn everything i need to finish my map. this post has been officially my bookmarked howto :D much appreciated!

Im in the same situation u are AMtrane. You have to create custom unit/model/actor for the units and the m3 files are what you get from the dependancy. Don't forget that you also need to add the death models as well. Im trying to figure it out atm and once i do ill let you know. Im kinda new to the data editor so it might take a bit.
I can only see it as using an effect :/ Did you try this below?
Use the baneling bust "volatile burst" effect and in the data field for include+, add Target and your custom effect that spawns a broodling. Not sure if it will work, but you just have to find a behavior that creates an effect on target or killing unit.
I am having the hardest time linking my unit to the model and actor. Could someone PLEASE give me a quick crash course and creating a unit? or show me a good tutorial on it? The ones on youtube show the very basics and its not enough help.
I want to create a custom unit based off of the reaper using the Left 2 Die model. WHat is all i have to do to link the unit to a model and actor and how do i also link custom death models/actors to it. Im given the Death Head model .m3 and the death model .m3
PLEASE HELP!! with good help ill probably be able to handle future units from here on out
Im using units from blizz' Left 2 Die map. I imported the medic and everything works except the sound. The sound files for the medic by default say "Unknown" next to each sound file and I can not find them in the sounds list.
I imported the entire L2D mod so i figured the sound files were included. What am i missing?
When changing default units in the data editor, I'm having the issue with units resetting to default randomly when i load my map, even after saving! Sometimes it resets and sometimes the changes will stay.
Is this a common issue for changing default units or does it also happen for new units copied from parent?

Found it. Upgrade/Researches/Abilities ect. are game links xD
Set variable as type: - Game Link
With link type: Upgrade
This allows you to set any upgrade types as variables :P

For instance:
ACTIONS:
Set ResearchVariable1 = Terran Infantry Weapons Level 1
Set ResearchVariable2 = Terran Infantry Weapons Level 2
ect.
So i can reward any given upgrade at any time just by using the variable and not the preset upgrade value
OR is there a way to set up a switch to check more than 1 value, or is there something like a switch that checks an array of variables.
