Good work nevj, nice too see people putting time into the SC community. Good to hear that you are aware of the child diseases. and are working on them.

"The post horn (also posthorn, post-horn, or coach horn) is a valveless cylindrical brass or copper instrument with cupped mouthpiece, used to signal the arrival or departure of a post rider or mail coach. It was used especially by postilions of the 18th and 19th centuries." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_horn
Or, and probably more likely, a spoonerism for hosting porn :P And he's getting additional enjoyment because he thinks your reaction time is slow :P
Back in WC3 (and other games of course) one could hide a part of a model by filling its alpha channel. Is this still true for SC2? If so, which texture file should I edit? I am referring to the difernt types of texture files (diffuse, emissive, normal or specular) which one can find in the MPQ files.

Fade doodads: go to the doodad's model and turn on occlusion.

Isn't this the type of thing one should do in the data editor?

Use a program like winrar for extracting, see http://www.rarlab.com/

The best way to make a defense map interesting is variaty. Different styles in different areas - symmetric is boring.
I would implement it one of the areas with enough room, and think up different things for the rest :)

Heya,
Back in WC3 (and other games of course) one could hide a part of a model by filling its alpha channel. Is this still true for SC2? If so, which texture file should I edit? Thanks in advance
