Ummm, could you animate a bunch of custom models I have? I'll texture them up and so fourth but can you animate them and then export them in the proper format for SC2.
P.S your going to need Half life or some kind of source game and the source plugins for 3ds max to open these.
All you need is photoshop and dds plugins with mpq editor thingy. Extract the textures you want (The ghost is under hpolyghost diffuse) The normal like colors and shit are diffuse. Open in photoshop, edit, save as dds (when you save it'll pop up with a window make sure the intepol or something like that is selected), go into map, click the page with the arrow, right click the blank space, import and then right click and move then type Assets/Textures/ in the option under root.
That's how I do it so the new textures are only in my maps and doesn't effect my normal game.
Now if you want all thye normal stuff and a duplicate unit that has the textures you need 3dsmax or there's some way to do it with a text editor.
Hope this helps.
Ummmm... it didn't work for me can you post some pictures for the Editor part?
Okay I'm going to start with something simple: Marines I plan on making Marines that have different types of Helmet decals as shown here:
Any ideas on how I should Proceed with this?
It would be nice if someone could make textures based off these portraits: Panda Marine, Tiger Marine, Hydralisk Marine, and the Wolf Marine. Also, if you could make the Textures look more Worn out such as mud on the soldiers feet/lower part of legs, scratches on the armor but still team colourable.
Don't worry, we are using the CortexRP engine... so all I have to do is set the starting area. The Engine is open source, so TheBlackMage/Motive doesn't mind as long as credit is given. Thus making my friend's and my life easier coding and mapping wise.
And Mapping wise the only map that would be cluttered would be the war torn city, but it will have some areas for building. So picture in your head a destroyed city with nothing on its streets so you can put together your destroyed city streets, you just won't have to worry about building it entirely. Then the Second map is a Replica of the lush parts of Afghanistan. The third map is going to be a Arctic wasteland so pack your thermal suit.
Sorry for second post, but come on people its not a huge project mostly new Models, Icons, tile sets and some extras that will be in the coding. All I need is two 3D Artists, and one 2D artist for Icons and custom terrains. If you have and questions or concerns leave a comment or contact me by my hotmail. I'm not trying to waste your time, I'm trying to give something to the awesome Role-Playing community at CortexRP.com. I can't do 3D art for a damn worth I can draw extremely well for my age but modeling eludes me.
Well that is it folks, I hope some of you will consider to join the team and I look forward to working with some of you.
-Ghost.
A few of you have seen my threads in the Artist Tavern looking for modelers, so I've dropped just doing a few maps I'm making a full blown mod for CortexRP featuring realistic models, terrains, sounds, effects and ect... I currently have three members on the team:
Me: Project lead, mapper, coder.
Nanaki/Daniel: Coder.
Sam: Lead Modeler, hes helping a friend on another mod so he will pop in when ever he can.
Also, when we are tired of working on Cortex we can decide what our next project should be and can use the resources we have put into the CortexRP mod for what we decide to do. We currently need more 3D, 2D Artists, and mappers. For more information or interested in signing up contact me at [email protected].
Yours truely, Liam Donnelly.
My 3D modeler has a very short amount of time that he can put into the developement of our map/mod for CortexRP thus, I am looking for a new modeler to fill in his shoes until he is able to put a lot more time into this project: for further information and details contact me at [email protected].

And if I want to make it so I have multiple variations of the Marine similar to the Colonist/Civilian set up. How would I do that exactly?

Uhmmmm what if I don't have a 3D software program should I find someone who does to export it so I can Import?

Thanks, and how would I import the Textures into the Editor? And then attach them to the Units?

I don't want to have to make a bunch of requests for textures so could someone help me learn how to edit textures? Thanks in advance, Ghost.

Yes, Path of Ashes would be a good example. Only I'm going to be adding more you could say.
