Since it falls to the individual user to change his keyboard repeat delay, is this not a serious con? I'd actually place it chiefest among them.

Also, can anyone verify that Blizzard has made good on their plan to give trigger-based movement a similar latency to command card input?

Yeah, information is a bitch. I myself have yet to personally verify the existence of Antarctica. The best anyone can do is look for patterns and correlations across many sources and work from there...

I know it's just a hipster humor site but that article isn't exactly stellar. Like, Number 6 which prefaces with "When someone uses language that implies a definite fact without stating it outright..." and Number 5, "Implying Without Saying" are completely redundant.

It's common practice for insiders to speak on condition of anonymity, especially on such a volatile topic as this. That's pretty much how informants operate anyway: If you blow their cover they stop being your informant...

They didn't say that nobody knew he had alleged connections to al Qaeda, they said the FBI shared nothing with the Pentagon. It's another common practice on the inside to compartmentalize everything utterly.

I guess I can't argue your personal opinion that the alternate pic isn't also a fiercely stereotypical "beard and turban terrorist." Though I don't rule out the possibility that this guy is just a harmless patsy for God-knows-what...

Lastly, I just don't understand your last point. The FBI agent is the one who said the Pentagon was "arrogant," how is that something Fox News cannot possibly know?

I'll get it if it runs faster or consumes less RAM, otherwise I don't see a point. You can already modify the screen space with the previous version in any way you wish.

    I'm a mapmaker.

My favorite thing about modding in general is how much workload it saves you, and how much one person can accomplish with it. You can create a fully-featured online game in under a year if you put your mind to it, and one with a dazzling commercial-quality presentation if you have the talent.

Blizzard games in particular benefit from massive and immediately accessible online communities, interfacing through a rock-solid 3D engine and bug-free internet multiplayer. Battle.net 2.0 is far from perfect but there's still nothing quite like it.

What does "cliff crossing" entail? Is it to do with Reaper cliff jumping?

He's saying he can't do what he could in Warcraft III, and for no longer having that capability it makes SC2's current system demonstrably and quantitatively worse.

I think the issue is that peoples' standards have plummeted in the interim so they chalk up the flaws of the system to the economy, or tough love, or perhaps a magical fairy.

The hallmark of any creative visionary is a commitment to originality and innovation, so the best of the best are not likely to surface with rehashes of past successes. If only sustained excellence could be so convenient! Actually the cutting edge is always where you least expect it.

The audience for a custom map appears small.

How many people do you think play each one? The most popular map right now on NA has about 10k bookmarks. I don't think that's a lot.

SotIS broke 10k but I've seen as many as 13k. Either way I consider it a good amount. I mean how many active players regularly play a typical Kongregate game? Even many big-budget online games don't have that kind of player base.

    1. Play the game in your head first, then when the pieces start to fit proceed to plagiarize yourself.

    2. Work toward building a playable prototype as quickly as possible so you know the score.

    3. Do not favor data editing over triggers. Figure out the best course of action for any given task and utilize it unabashedly.

    4. Cast the word "terrain" from your vernacular. Call it instead "level design" and keep it malleable and expandable as an extension of the core design. (In most cases I shy away from standard maps consisting of a single predictable zone.)

    5. Use everything at your disposal to steer the vibe in a lofty direction. If your game produces negativity and in-fighting from the players consider it a flaw in your design and go about rectifying it. Understand your power to inspire and alleviate.

    6. Don't be afraid to tear down what you've built. Keep every aspect of your map close at hand, and be eager to sacrifice them for the greater good.

    7. Break the rules.

    8. Don't downplay the importance of graphical effects as visual feedback. Use eye candy with all the same precision as a mathematical equation. Additionally, create eye-catching cutscenes/title screens to make players feel like they just stepped into another game.

    9. Make it simple but deep. Build something that is at once challenging and relaxing depending on the players' whims.

how do you design a td map for a "type" of person? [type referring to what it means in the same context as this case]

Why does it have to be a TD, and what do you mean in the first place? You can design anything for anything, from TDs to Disney World rides.
