    posted a message on Suggestions for My Life of a Peasant (If you'd like)

    Hey everyone me again,

    I decided it might be nice if anyone wants to contribute ideas to my LOAP map. I am working hard to keep it balanced and I refuse to add any god powers but I want the map to be the best it can be as it will be one of the first LOAPs to enter the SC2 community. If you have any fantasies you've always wanted to come true in LOAP, let me know and I'll try my hardest to incorporate them.

    Get pumped everyone, LOAP is on the rise.

    Thanks.

    Make it balanced and FUN for both sides. Lol but other than the obvious... MAYBE try to incorporate various modes of C&M. What I mean is there could be a mode where there are excess amount of cats and whoever is the last to survive, wins the round (I think rounds would be a good idea to incorperate because famous C&M styled maps such as Pobes vs. Zeelots have it and that allows for easy continuous gameplay). Another mode could be mice only can build a certain amount of buildings and if they exceed it, they would get revealed or something unexpected. I'll keep thinking of ideas.

    Best of Luck!

    Well, Pobes vs. Zeelots already utilizes two different kinds of resources so that wouldn't really be groundbreaking unless you found a creative way to use the resource.

    Maybe if one resource is used for building units and structures while the other could be used for abilities or items that could be given to a hero unit or your main builder (the unit that must survive). You could only obtain these points from specific actions against the cats. (i.e. attacking them, trapping them would be interesting if there was someway to make that work)

    posted a message on Starbow - The Way Starcraft 2 Should Have Been Made

    @LaertesSC2: Go

    So what if SC2 isn't as competitive as BW? It still is pretty damn competitive. I can't stand kids who love to try and make the game more balanced or competitive. You can do so much to make a game more competitive or complicated but who cares? This map (Starbow) may be pretty freaking sweet and resemble BW but I don't want to keep playing the same style of BW for years and years on end. I love the new mechanics of SC2 because it forces everyone to relearn strategy with new units and abilities and that in itself is complicated and forces a competitive aspect. There is of course much more to it.

    If you don't like the way the new game plays fine, play this "Starbow" (The fuck kind of name?) but Blizzard sure as hell isn't going in any direction such as this. Big companies like Blizzard may understand that past games have succeeded because of specific elements they implemented but they'll be damned if they create a new game which utilizes the exact same elements of an older one.

    Also this map is pretty imbalanced as is. I mean it's not horrible but it's light years from Blizzard's design.

    As your thread title suggests, this imbalance is the way the game should be made?..... ...The important thing is you tried, son.

    posted a message on who else listens to dubstep when editing!?!

    @zeldarules28: Go

    Spotify is great! I loved Pandora for a while but found Spotify to have so much more. The radio stations are great and can be used to find tons of new music (ie. Dubstep for OP). Although, I'll be damned if that's the genre of music I'm ever listening to while trying to edit. I'm into that indie pop/rock music, current fav band from that genre would most likely by White Rabbits.

    posted a message on Creating a LOAP for SC2

    @ LaertesSC2,

    Thank you! I'm glad you are excited and I hope people in the community are somewhat interested in this remake. I know there are people out there that loved the game but I also know there are people who couldn't stand it and that's alright. I'm not making the game because I want to grab every single persons' attention. However, I would like to bring this classic variant to the SC2 community so they can experience a game I had a ton of fun playing back in WC3 with RL friends and without.

    @Doubleclick123

    I also understand where you're is coming from but for a reason that might be different from yours. When I played, there were hundreds of ridiculous renditions with overpowered gods and such that started popping up. With my remake, I am trying to stay away from that because, in my opinion, the best LOAPs were the basic ones with the three powers (Mafia, Police, and Drug Lord). Once editors added higher power characters, people became less focused on their own character and more focused on pleasing the higher power in the game. Also gods would abuse their power all of the time. It just wasn't a healthy addition to the game.

    Hopefully you will give my map a try and let me know what you think of it. Why were you so disappointed by it back in the day?

    posted a message on Creating a LOAP for SC2

    Hello everyone!

    I just wanted to announce to this community of SC2 editors that I creating a LOAP map for SC2. I have been thinking back to the good old days where LOAP held a popular stance in WC3 and I want to bring this greatness to SC2. I am working hard to make a very balanced map that uses only the most basic elements from the LOAP series. What I mean by that is I will not use any LOAP renditions with gods or super beings. There will be the three classic powers and peasants.

    I'm quite far into the process and should be approaching a testable copy within next week.

    I hope you all are as excited as I am to get this map out in the SC2 community, not just for the WC3 fans out there who remember this game variant but also for an SC2 players who are interested in a great Arcade game.

    Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions for me.

    posted a message on (Solved) Using a Grid-like option/parameter...

    Hey everyone,

    I have just figured out how to make walls block vision and movement with footprints. Horay!! Now, I am having another less significant problem. If you open a new map and you check any pre-made footprint once applied to something (from what I can tell this occurs with a doodad, it may occur with every type of object but I have no confirmed this), and then want to place it, the object moves in a grid like formation. What I mean is after applying the footprint, the object is locked to a 1 unit parameter.. I'm not sure if that makes much more sense.

    Anyhow, I like this effect but when you duplicate the footprint, and apply that duplicated footprint to an object, it doesn't have this grid-like feature. I'm wondering where this feature pops up and how I can apply it to new footprints I create or if this lies somewhere in the object once I apply the footprint.

    If my explanation makes little sense which I'm sure it does, try it out on your own using my instructions on top.

    Hope to hear from you all soon, Thanks!
