    Blademaster! With Luminous!

Seems like there's a great fundamentals here, but multiplayer really needs a rematch system.

Alright so let's see my list:

    -Blademaster

    -The Rising Dead

    -Ling Slayers

Are there other games people wanted me to cast?

I think I'm going to try to get The Rising Dead and Ling Slayers next Saturday, and Blademaster I'm thinking I might try to do with Luminous but he's pretty focused on Entropy TD. If I can't get that one done in co-op within the next week I'll probably just do the solo mode.

I ended up doing some runs of two more of the mapster missions. I think I got frustrated a little too fast with mission 2 and didn't have as much to say as usual about mission 3 so I was thinking about doing another run of them for some better footage.

    Here they are anyway.

I think part of the issue is with my playstyle on mission 2I wasn't scouting enough with the overseer hero and as a player tend to overrely on f2 to control units as zerg, which is just not possible on mission 2.

After the frustrations with mission 2, I was a bit surprised on how smoothly mission 3 went, but I might have still been a bit too strung out from my frustrations with mission 2 to really give good objective analysis of mission 3.

Here's a playthrough of Shamans of Conquest!

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/3J4v9mHtIeQ?fs=1

I'm with my event group but we had 5 people. There wasn't any observer slots enabled so we played it as 2v3. With shared income maps, sometimes 2v3 favors the 2.

It's an interesting map; I was confused toward the start on where you were supposed to build certain special buildings. It ended up not being an issue because mass catapults could not be stopped once the snowball began (or so it seemed). It could also be the other team didn't upgrade their spells or use them appropriately, since it was everyone's first game.

My concern with "fast-snowball" maps like this is that players might not be able to learn very effectively when it is make or break so quickly.

Thanks! I'm glad you find it helpful! :3

Yeah, the way you have snowballing upgrade systems, it may be that you'd have to redesign a lot to have a higher unit count really be effective in deepening gameplay. That being said, I was thinking that with more units, you could confront bigger or more complex challenges. Perhaps adding in air units on harder difficulties or later levels?

    (Co-Op Mod) Orion: Ground Zero

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/Nq_1gAiIm3A?fs=1

In this co-operative mission, players choose from different factions to beat back a zerg force while using exciting new units!

(This video like others has additional footage from the rest of the day due to a bug with the archive upload. Orion: Ground Zero runs for the first 39 minutes of the video). This one is also with Luminous but I didn't have him on voice chat quite yet.

There was one bug that hit me early: the difficulty screen pops up right as a player would normally be selecting mining units, so we ended up on "Toasty" without really knowing what that would mean.

Despite this, the difficulty felt more or less fine. Even once I had an elite force of doomsday air units, I still had to check the affixes of the zones to make sure there was not "damage return" since that would wreck my high damage units.

The biggest issue I had with the map was actually the constant lighting changes. I honestly had a hard time looking at the screen when it feels like everything is going from super saturated green to practically purple over the course of a few seconds.

    Dragon Escape!

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/2qcrZQTQ0mY?fs=1

In this 4-player racing arcade map, dragons attempt to reach the end of a lap first to complete each circuit. As a reward for first place, players can unlock new dragons!

I think this map does what it wants to do pretty well for the first circuit. My biggest concern is that it's easy for victory to snowball once you unlock the speed boost red dragon, mostly since the speed boost is more consistent than the teleport which bugs out about 50% of the time. Of course I also was pretty bad at this map, but for a game meant to played with friends, you don't want victory to snowball so fast since then people will get angry :P

    Banshee Fight - Round 2!

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/MtcVDSx00hc?fs=1

(As with other videos, there's a bunch of footage after the end of the rest of the stream; the Banshee Fight section is from the start for the first 28 minutes).

So I did two matches of this vs. Luminous to try to get a grapple on the purchasing system and everything else. I don't know why exactly but having it auto-buy ammunition when you mousewheel click next to the base seemed REALLY unusual to me.

Beyond that we seemed to have some sort of glitch with the nukes (start watching around 0:27:00 to see this) where I would die and the nuke would launch-post death (for a game win as it were).

Now that I finally have a grapple on the purchasing system, the game does seem to have a lot of strategy, but I would definitely overhaul a lot of the UI for this to be user-friendly and probably redesign the purchasing system. I would rather just have a button to click for buying nukes honestly, there's a risk that if you mouse-wheel-click too slowly you'll waste money on the wrong type of ammo.

I also still don't quite have a grapple on how much more damage G-ATA does over ATA, and I think mines NEED to be able to be spawned in the air so that you can inhibit nukes that skip the bunker and the lane and just go right for your starport.

    Death by Fantasy!

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/JFReWfklFEo?fs=1

(the lobby join breaking at the beginning was just SC2's engine, not the map)

The stream upload decided to be funky so it includes a bunch of footage after this, but Death by Fantasy goes from the start to 0:44:00 (hence the preview image being off).

    THE MOST CRITICAL REVIEW YET?

Video archive got a bit messed up in the stream, but here we go!

In this video, runs of Blitz Fire and Planetary Cleaning Service with my guest-commentator Luminous!

    Embed Removed: https://www.youtube.com/v/MeSEC4H2OTk?fs=1

Planetary Cleaning Service starts at about 0:29:00

For Blitz Fire: Definitely is off to a great start, wouldn't mind harder difficulties where you have more units to control.

Planetary Cleaning Service: I think a clearer sense of how the dropships work would be nice, having one guy buy Thors and having that take up the entire drop ship seemed really distracting.

I also wouldn't mind a game mode where you clear the entire map.

Here's the first video of my playthrough of MaskedImposter's campaign "Mapsters," mission 1 being "Vespene Warlord." I played on Hard difficulty setting for this runthrough.

(A brief note, I will probably get to maps that are single player slightly faster than other maps, but I will definitely get to all of them that I can. Also, it would be nice if you could give the map names as they appear in SC2 arcade search and the range of players in the request).

The difficulty felt pretty good to me for Hard, it being slightly easier than Brutal in LotV campaign. I generally don't play "brutal" in the arcade just because loading and saving can be such a pain. For arcade campaign difficulty, I usually prefer a challenge that nonetheless can be beaten on the first attempt.

It's definitely a "crackling" map, zagara-esque from LotV co-op misions.
