No worries dude, neither do I usually on other posts ;) Thanks for replying.
Like, I just know the very basics, but coding without a guide would just not work. Ye, I've thought about it alot. I really dont want to do something usual like a project about the water or something boring like that and I really like Starcraft 2 so I thought I'd just give it a try. Im going to talk with my teachers about the matter next time I see them. But thanks for the tip ;)
Ye, triggers and data was indeed pretty easy. Ye, I like playing with the Starcraft 2 editor alot, so I'm probably going to spend 50+ hours extra on my feetime.
Ah okay. I started on a map were you spawn as usual with 6 SCVs and you have to go through a cave with alot of paths. And then you have to answer chemisty questions to get the right path and continue deeper into the map. It wasn't to difficult, but ye I can imagine going deeper into it must be very complicated.
Cool. I got some experience with the map editor, I know how to add triggers and change the values on units, but I havent gone into coding in the actual map maker yet. And ye, a dota style map would be very cool to make and when you say it like that it dosen't sound to difficult ;)
Ye, people tell me the same, and you're right, doing a game from scratch would give me more experience. But I just find Starcraft 2 moding to be more fun, so I'm atleast going to give it a try and if it fails I go do something else.
Hello!
At my school we recently got informed that we’re going to make a big project about something related to the current subjects and we’re going to spend 100+ hours on this project to then present it to about 150people. And I figured that I could try to make a big project in the Starcraft 2 engine/map editor, something like the Blizzard version of Starjeweled on the arcade. My current experience in programming and moding is very bad. I know some Java, but nothing useful really and the only moding I’ve done before is a map in Starcraft 2 were I had some triggers and changed some features on the units. But I’m very open to learning stuff as long as it’s not too all to difficult.
So my question to any of you map editors out there is if I require any programming skills to make this? Is it something that I can get into relatively quickly or am I aiming to high?
TLDR; We’re going to do a big projects in school and I’m thinking about making something in the Starcraft 2 editor, but I don’t got much experience. Is it something that I can pull off?
Excuse me for terrible english.
Edit 1: If someone know a good guide on top of your head about getting into Starcraft 2 modding a link would be very appreciated :)
