    Some posts just force people to do more than lurk.

    Hero spells and/or abilities are pretty much a staple in RTS, MOBA, and RPG games. It would be difficult to imagine them not having spells.

    There is probably more design space with the element theme than there is manpower to accomplish it. If anybody is familiar with Magic the Gathering, they too have an element theme around which literally thousands of cards are designed. Also, it somewhat depends on interpretation. Are the elements strictly Water Fire Earth, or are there others such as Death, Life, Astral, etc? Are there heroes designed around two elements instead of just one?

    Augment / Inventory are also a staple. Some kind of way to progressively power up your toon/army is generally expected.

    It seems obvious that what they are trying to do is evolve the MOBA type game, not completely re-invent it from the ground up. It should be judged in that light.

    While constructive criticism is good, the world (and this site particularly) needs fewer wet blankets and more cheerleaders.

    I tried parts one and two of this tutorial, then tested the map to better understand the 'portrait bug'. I had no issues at all, without trying the fix mentioned in the original post or the one linked by stevehammon. Not sure why. I'm a complete noob.

    I understand the original post is old, so mainly just posting for others that may stumble upon it.
