posted a message on Minimap Icon Help?

http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/civilization-zero-state/files/ < The map is posted here, not sure if you need me to unlock it, if you do I'll PM it to you just let me know...

I was using a lot of different doodads and units to see what they looked like, and then deleting them, I have 0 triggers which create doodads, and since there's no regions or points at the locations where these icons are, I don't even know how units could get there, so it's probably a bug, or some leftover data or something...

I'm not sure how well placing an invisible unit there would work, though it would remove the icon, map visibility is part of strategy on the map, maybe if it has 0-1 sight range and sits on top of the icon location, and creates when a unit enters the region at the icon, that might work if we can't figure out what it is...

I'll betcha those things aren't actual units, but some kind of residual data-editing dust. Special icons like those usually only show up for certain map objectives in the campaign or such, or as Sensor Tower icons. I'm thinking you may have edited a campaign unit that has this icon by default and not managed to turn off this specific property of the unit.

I'll leave it here for now, but if you don't get any answers I'll move your thread to data for you - I've a feeling you'll be luckier there.

Thank you, I'm thinking that it might be residual data as well as I've modified a lot of units through trial and error testing, and in fact I have modified Sensor Towers to remove their abilities as I use them as beacon/outposts on my map, so it might be related to those, I'll try messing with Sensors some more, but for now still looking for the answer.

posted a message on Minimap Icon Help?

I posted about this my other thread and got a response that it is probably related to a rock unit/doodad, however, I'm still unable to find the issue, as none of the doodads on my map list mini map icons in their actor/model/any data....

Even more than that, there is literally NOTHING on the map in the places where these icons appear, and I have 0 triggers that create/move doodads or units to the locations, there are no points, or regions where these icons are as well....

I've checked everything from cliffs, roads, lighting, creep pathing, no fly zones, doodad/unit variations/occlusion/power layers, etc.. I can think of, unless someone specifically recognizes what these are I don't think I can figure it out on my own...

So if anyone has an idea of what these circles with a lightning bolt are please let me know as detailed as possible...

Also, if you are below cliff level right at the icon on the map, it displays it, but once you get within sight range of it with a unit, the icon disappears (only visible in explored greymask fog areas), nothing is there, nothing is there in the editor in general, there might have originally been doodads I placed there when I was testing them, but removed, are there any doodads that leave actor or models that are invisible in the editor?

Edit: Just a FYI for anyone who has the issue and finds this thread, I managed to fix it by modifying the Data-Game UI Data-Default SC2 UI Settings, Beacon Minimap Icon (this was set to the destructible rocks icon, and I changed it to blank) as well as Object Group Data (this had a field with the destructible rocks icon as well which also changed to blank).

The Object Group Data one was probably the most likely culprit which might have become an issue with me adding Units to unit groups, then removing them from the map but not from the unit group, or some combination of that.

Thanks, rock doodads were one thing I noticed in the area, but I had already removed them as well, I wonder if they have some sort of leftover doodad state or something... though at least now that I know that is what it is I can figure it out.

I'm not really sure where I would post this question, so doing it here, I've had an issue with these odd mini-map icons and I have absolutely no idea what they are...

I think they first appeared when I was either messing with the terrain lighting or doodads at random, the problem is they show up in-game in greymask explored areas, but the icons disappear when a unit gets within sight range of them, they appear to be small lightning bolts on circles (power icon?)?

I'm clueless as to what they are or how to remove them, another possibility I considered was broken terrain or cliff levels was causing them or something, but if anyone has any clue please let me know!

Also, I've tried just about everything I could think of checking at the locations where they are, there's no associated points, no regions, I've tried changing terrain textures, cliff levels, smoothing terrain, removing all units/doodads around there, changing pathing, and messing with the lighting which I still don't really understand how it works very well, but nothing has removed them, I have a feeling it's a really simple issue too, what am I missing?

posted a message on Civilization : Zero State (Testing/Bugs/Suggestions)

Civilization : Zero State is based mostly on recapturing the "look and feel" of Civilization World 7.#.# from Starcraft1, at the same time I also hoped to mix in a lot of my favorite functionality from other similar maps on both sc1 and sc2.

So far, the feel of the map already has the more open and highly flexible/customizable feeling that I remembered from Civ World, though unfortunately lacks A LOT of polish and balance testing, functionality is still being added everyday as well, along with more bugs and issues to fix every update.

If you want to try a flexible diplomacy style map (which even has an AI mode (crappy AI mode for now)) then please do give this map a try, all the more testing and suggestions I get the better towards the end result.

Since I am updating it a lot as I do balance testing the best version to play is the one publicly found by searching arcade games for "civilization" and looking for zero state. Keep an eye on the patch notes.

    Current List:

    • 5 Natives Difficulties (Inlcuding No Natives, + AI Mode (Adds AI Bases to Nations with no players)
    • 10 Nations (2 Unique Units each)
    • 7 Ages which can be upgraded to freely
    • 5 Wonders (Soon to be 6)
    • 5 Governments (Soon to be 6)
    • Flexible Civil Disorder/Population/Government/Monument/Disaster system tied in to each other
    • Disasters you can hit other Nations with
    • Market
    • 51 Outposts (Primary Gold income)
    • 16 Oil Wells (Primary Oil income, passive income, gathering not required)
    • Gold/Oil resources can be gathered but it's a very weak source of income, Gold gathering is pointless until Age 6 probes
    • Unit & Structure upgrades which increase health, armor, damage, & cost balancing many low age units to near-match later age units
    • Towers & Walls system which blocks air and allows flexible base defense

    Planned List:

    • Unit & Cost balance (Work in Progress)
    • Marco Polos Wonder (+tech)
    • Relic System (random spawn/benefits)
    • Hospital (better life regen/sec while in range)
    • A 6th Government option that gives bonus to Disaster Token income
    • Add AI Mode attack waves to re-capture Outposts/attack bases based on difficulty/# of AIs
    • Turn Market/Disaster Control Panel into Menu buttons (In Development)
    • Add more functionality to Market
    • Change Market into Merchant Guild & Add permanent upgrade (Trade Route Permission Rights)
    • Add more Disasters
    • Economy leaderboard (+ gold/oil/tech per sec toggle-able)
    • Bank/Stats/Achievements/Perks system
    • UI/Visual/Naming polishing
