So I am assuming everyone has this problem then, and uses my work around to update the list? I still think there is something wrong with my editor, just don't know what.

Ok so I did this test where I update my dependencies in my map, simply by moving one of them up or down. After I click OK and the status bar pops up for a second to update the map, my effect list is updated.
Before: there is no Impaler Tentacle R2 (Damage)
After: there IS a Impaler Tentacle R2 (Damage)
I have no idea why that works but it does, and I have repeated it several times. O.O

I had made a post about my issue in a tutorial thread I was following, but felt it might be better suited here as it pertains to more than just that tutorial. When making Effects of a certain Effect Type, I am unable to reference them in another Effect when trying to link them.
In the one instance I've come across, I'm following the Uberlisk tutorial. I create a Damage effect and appropriately change necessary fields. After which, I create a Launch Missile effect, and proceed to change necessary field. However, when changing Effect: Impact Effect, I am able to choose any Damage effect, other than the one I had just created.
I have been following the tutorial to the "T". And this isn't the only tutorial that I've had this problem, and its not even the same Effect Type. Is there something I'm doing wrong with configuring my map that causes it to do this? I create a new map and don't touch a thing unless the tutorial specifically says so.

So what would cause for effects to not show in field options for other effects? When going to select the value for Effect: Impact Effect within Impaler Tentacle L1 (Missile), I see no option for Impaler Tentacle L1 (Damage). I had this problem with another tutorial as well, where Site Operation (Local Offset) effects I created, were not selectable in the fields where other Local Offset effects could be chosen. I see Immortal - Phase Disruptors (Damage) and then Infested Marine - Infested Gauss Rifle (Damage), and Impaler Tentacle L1 (Damage) should be right inbetween them.
I have followed the tutorial verbatim. My map is like any map loaded with default dependencies. When creating effects, I only change what is suppose to be changed. Is this some sort of bug or am I not configuring the map the way I should be? It's kind of frustrating to not be able to finish a tutorial, let alone know that my own custom creations will be thwarted by this problem.

Would a simple trigger be able to fix this? Any player types in a message. Save to string. String is displayed to all players.
I'm sorry, I'm still adjusting to the new editor coming from Warcraft 3 myself. The data editor still scares me :(
