He's incorrect. You can't add abilities to abilities.
Just download the map I made, and use it as a reference.
Any ability x needs to be remade with every unit that you wish to be able to use the hotkey for.
Burrow, for example. Each zerg unit is given a burrow ability. Theres Zergling - Burrow, Roach - Burrow, ect. Each of these burrow abilitys have the SAME Abil Set ID.
This way, when pressing the burrow hotkey, all of them burrow.
yeah i got that map and i cant see any difference between the two.
is it just the "ABILITY" that needs to be changed - can i keep using all the same behaviors and effects etc? Im deleting my old ability and starting over, just in case i fucked something up
Hi, I have an ability (Cloak), and i have added it to my marines and marauders so they both have the same ability.
When i have a marine and a marauder selected and i hit the hotkey for the cloak ability, only one of the units uses the ability. I have to tab to the other unit to make it work.
How can i make it work so that when I click the cloak ability, it cloaks all units that have that ability, regardless of type?
how do i link the cooldown from the decloak ability to the cloak button? what i mean by this is that when i press the "decloak" button, the cooldown is triggered fine, however the button switches from decloak to cloak and i can press the cloak button again.. (ill post a video if that doesnt make sense)
my other question is - how do i make it so the unit is charged an initial 10 energy to be cloaked? if i set the cost to 10 energy, the energy is deducted when i hit decloak (obviously).
thanks for all the help - it took me a while to get my head around this backwards ability lol
Just give your unit a behaviour that cloaks it and make your Behavior ability apply a buff that disables the cloaking behaviour using the Behavior - Modification - Behaviors Disabled field and has the Toggled On flag enabled.
The end result will be a unit that initially will be uncloaked but will have cooldown when decloaking.
just to make sure i understood this - i should end up with 2 behaviors for this one abil, right?
find your cloak ability : in the cost+ - find the COOL DOWN section - where it says : TIME USED - set that to 0
find the De-cloak ability: cost+ - Find the COO DOWN section - where it says TIME USED ( i think) - add the amount of time he needs to wait to de-cloak.
if that's what you mean. try the different fields in the COOL DOWN section to see witch one better fit your needs.
i don't use an ability for de-cloak - its just an ability-> behavior that toggles on and off.. but if thats the best way to do it, then ill change the ability.
Never realized that the order of site operations matters. You need to put the attach operation first in the list, and then apply any adjustments. Additionally, offsetting by 10 for such a small unit is too much.
you are a star!
Yeh, i figured 10 was excessive, but i thought id be extreme to make sure i wasn't going crazy. lol
i found a flag and wanted to stck it to a marauder's back. the flag sticks to the "Target 01" attachment point and follows around etc, but for some reason I cant adjust it's offset. no matter what i put in the local offset sop it refuses to move.. any ideas?

actually you don't even need to have different abilities - so long as the "Send to selection" flag is enabled, it will work on the same ability.

cheers for the offer, but i figured it out!
Solution:
Flags- "Send to selection" needs to be checked!

im not quite sure how i can do that?

for some reason i cant get it to work - i duplicated the ability, changed it on the unit... but it still wont link :S

I had a feeling that it was something to do with that ... It's silly that it won't work with the same ability

Like how stimpack works.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was wondering is it was possible to apply the blue effect that units have while cloaked ... without actually being cloaked?
And if so... how?
I'd like to be able to use the visual effect to represent different abilities by tinting it yellow and red etc..
I cant really get my head around actors yet Many thanks.

cheers guys - i appreciate the help.
i was thinking about creating a dummy ability that fired on behavior removal with a linked cooldown as my alternative lol

Hi, I'm using the cloak ability, but i want to add a cooldown when a player decloaks (as opposed to setting the cooldown duration from ability cast).
let me know if you need more info - thanks.
