I'm liking the range I'm seeing here. A micro heavy, hero based, indirect PvP game is what's been suggested so far :P. I'm shocked at the RPG vote so far though. Personally I've always felt RPGs to be a write-off, since we're limited by map size.

@ TheAlmaity and DuckytheDuck: Both of you mentioned a distaste for PvP and specifically mentioned hero vs hero combat. Are you guys opposed to a game type where one team is heroes and the other is mass units, or something like that?

I think "Most people" want an RPG simply because there are no Good ones Available, Mafia and DBZ tribute Ruled WC3, but in SC2 there arent any good ones(any good ones that Ive played im sure theres that undiscovered great map out there.)

Anyone who i interested, This is basically going to be a better version of E V O L V E S, but based loosely on that. It will have upgrades, heros, the ability to go back a teir or teirs. the builder will change itself, and you will evolve with minerals.

I defiinatly need help learning triggering, Terraining, will come later I will most likely do that myself.

First i just want to get the first 2 tiers of the spawner, the Kill counter, and the base made first, I will do all these myself i just need someone I can turn to when I run into a wall (which will probably be often.), I have very basic VERY BASIC galaxy editor knowledge, so im going to be learning while I do this. This project will most likely take months, and I will veiw every tutorial I can find on the subject, But I still need someone to help me fill in teh gaps between tutorials.

i have a few more Ideas im going to implement to add competitiveness to it.

Well that Model editor is coming out, then There will be a few good artist out there. Well ill suggest a project such as that, at a later date, Your right though, Its an emmense amount of work.

I would love a smaller project such as a Arcman, A Pacman remake with an Archon. That would be SWEET!!!!

YAY THIS IS WHY I LOVE BLIZZARD, they said DOTA isnt good enough to be in their marketplace, and they kept their word by making it free.

When they say something, they mean it, I love that blizzard is able to do that, alot of other companies will lie like hell to you lol.

You do make a good point though with the popularity of maps dropping once they have a price tag. The best solution to this that I can think of without making the map entirely free is to use the F2P system - i.e., withhold certain features of the map from "free" players and give those who pay extra access. If Blizzard makes some kind of donation system for maps instead of a simple price tag, this would be easy to implement. They would have to include a new function in the editor which would check and return the amount a person has donated.

and even if they didnt make a return system, weather a mapmaker is selling his maps or not, their should still be a donate button, if nothing else, because good maps will be donated to, I can guarantee that.

at the same time, I dont think ANYONE should quit their jobs thinking their going to make major money off SC2 maps, its just not going to happen

out of 4 million poeple, MAYBE 10% will buy a map

thats 400000 sales, of those 10% 50-60% will buy more then one map 600000 sales per year maybe

Take Age of empires online they did that same thing, Free 2 play with micropurchases their not doing too well. Thats Microsoft, and it doesnt require SC2 to buy its maps/addons.

if you have the best map there is maybe 30,000$ take blizzards percentage, 22,000$ then if your making a map good enough to be top map for a whole year. im sure theres a team of people you have to cut in, after all is said in done its in the mid to low thousands. I doubt any 2 man team is going to make the greatest Mod ever.

Sure you can make SOMEthing, but it wont be enough to live off.

and im sure some developers will make 2 versions of a map one free and one thats charged for, and honestly I dont know how that would work out
