That's a pretty spiffy UI. I certainly hope that you decide to release this as a library for other players to use.

It's certainly not the opinion of everyone - there's a huge group of people that love playing default against each other for ranks - it's just not my cup of tea (probably partially due to the fact I'm not that good at it) and if it seems like players are winning based more on their faction than their skill then they should definitely make some changes.

However, it's still kind of silly to showcase your patch with something that is going to piss a decent percentage of your players off.

I certainly hope that they do actually list out the changes, rather than make players have to try and figure out what kind of tweaks they made to the system we're starting to get comfortable with.

    @Molsterr: Go

While it's true that they are two different teams working on the stuff, they are still pretty much the same company. I hope that the people in charge of SC2 don't listen to all of the "this unit/ability is OP" without properly investigating. Far too often it's the people who aren't happy with the system whose voice is being heard, because most of the people who feel that things are okay, aren't going to make a thread about it and possibly might not even check that section of the forums that much.

I have trouble even when it comes to companies like Bioware. I know Bioware makes great games and they're one of my favorite (maybe even the best for RPG fans) labels out there; however, they're now owned by EA Games, a company that is rapidly producing boycotts. I have to constantly remind myself that Bioware is still their own company, because I won't buy a game heavily EA based (like the Sims) any longer.

I love Starcraft, and I'm just fearful that Blizzard is going to ruin it for me; already kind of pissed with the lack of LAN support. Doesn't anyone have LAN parties anymore? While Battle.net is amazing and it was a clever attempt to limit piracy, I don't really like having it shoved down my throat. I also hope that this patch improves the Battle.net experience for those currently using it. While I'm pretty much living in the map editor right now it's still important that they get it functioning the way they promised.

Yes, for that task they both work, however they differ a bit in that the player score has more options to it like Mineral Cost of all Units, Minerals Spent, and some other off the wall stuff.

It already is an Interger Value. All you need to do is when it asks for a Value, go to functions, select the data tables and pick the Integer. When it asks for the name, just make sure the names match up.

You're saving the number of minerals in the data table in the form of an integer, the Name: "Minerals" is only it's label. If you needed to say, have a message displayed like, 'Player X has reached Y resources' you'd have to convert that integer into text.

posted a message on [Data] Is it possible to make unit attack ground?

I would do some variant of the Raynor - Grenade Toss ability if you're looking to target a spot on the ground to launch an attack.

I'm actually using grenades in my map and I can throw them on the ground and hit nothing if I wanted.

I will let it slide, since I believe the 'no spoilers' rule overrides the 'show what you used your request for' rule.

I may have to ask you how to get a unit to burn in flames. I plan on making some WoW themed maps for some of my WoW addict friends and I'll be transplanting the shadow priest I used to play (when I played WoW) in the map, but I'll need to be able to make the unit go transparent (easy), dark purple (easy), and have flame like wisps rising from the model (not so easy).

posted a message on How to start the test map in full screen windowed?

Okay, you need to go to File -> Preferences and then head to the Test Document Tab. There will be a box for "Run Game In A Window."

I don't believe however, you have any control over the default launch size of the window. You just need to quickly grab the corner and drag the window larger.

Edit: Seems like it retains the window size that you drag it to, even after closing the game and relaunching from the editor.

It's a Player Score Value, here's an example trigger.

You has to post screenies of what you're attaching it to now. I think it's a rule or something.

I played WoW for a long time, I don't trust Blizzard when it comes to balance changes any longer. So this patch it's some Terran nerfage, I wonder who's up next month, Zerg or Protoss.

posted a message on Is it bad to use a while loop without any wait?

So the shop is constantly open, or do you have to click a button to make the window pop up. A button click is still triggerable

The main difference between a period event and a wait time action is that the wait time action requires an event to trigger it where as with the period event, it is the trigger, and therefor much easier to work with.

I may or may not start animating SM_Nova and never actually use it, but rather use a different version by someone much better than I.

I have a 3ds version of them right now, wings are tilted just as you asked (I knew what you were going for) and I even rounded off the edges to make the wings look a little more normal, but if the animation of that part looks ugly when I import it then I'll tone those back to default.

Problem is that I'm a nub and I don't know how to get the prepped for exporting without killing the animation. I'm pretty sure, from what I read on the .m3 plugin that in order to export them I have to collapse the modifiers down to an editable mesh. When I do that I also lose the skinning (that's the modifier process that attaches the models the animated bones.

By the time I figure that out I bet Ulti will have seen this thread and finished the edit.

Strange, it won't actually give me the option to perm run as administrator. It's my wife's computer but my dad and I built the thing together and the only account on there is admin level. I wonder if it's an issue with her install since we had a hell of a time getting Vista on there.
