Having completed Part I of my custom campaign Purity of Form, I'm starting work in earnest on the second half (three missions). I'd like to get this out the door in good time, and with a bit more exciting mapping than I was able to put together on my own (with a little terrain help) in the first half.
So, I need a skilled terrainer and a trigger expert (preferably someone confident of their ability to put together challenging attack waves and in-game cinematics).
PM me if you're interested; a good sample of your work would be helpful.
To see what you'll be a part of, here's what I've done so far with the campaign:
This problem occurs when I take a Sound in the data editor, right-click on it and click Modify Sound, and try to enter a Speaker or Subtitle Text.
After I finish and close the Modify Sound window, I get the following error message:
[12/19/2010 10:45:00 PM] Warning: Invalid text key parameter used for value : (the text I entered)
Then when I go back to Modify Sound again, the text I entered is gone. What's up with this? Is there a way to add subtitles to sounds the way the devs did?
This is actually a bug in SC2 itself, not the editor, as far as I can tell.
Whenever I save a game from a single-player custom map I'm playing (one of my maps or someone else's), then try to load the game (even immediately afterward), I get the error message:
"The mod data loaded does not match the mod data which was originally used to play this game."
Then SC2 quits the game and dumps me to the main screen.

Seems like this must be a bug... anyone have any relevant info?
I'm interested in making a custom map where the opponent fights using Green Tea AI (http://sc2.nibbits.com/assets/green-tea-ai/). Does anyone know if there's a way to incorporate the AI into a map rather than making the player use Allin1 launcher or some such?
The goal here is to use a sound I imported to an SC2mod in a transmission as part of a custom map.
I import the sound in the mod and create a sound for it in the data editor.
The mod is added to the map's dependencies at the top, check. I add heroes from the mod to the map. Now I set up the transmission. The sound from the mod appears in the menu, and when I test it I can hear the sound I imported.
Then, when I test the map, the unit's portrait appears for a microsecond and disappears without playing the sound!
To double-check that the problem isn't something wrong with the way I wrote the trigger, I subbed in a sound I imported to the map itself (another copy of the same sound). That works in the transmission, plays just like normal.
Is this a known bug? Do you have to import sounds to a map and not a mod to use them in transmissions? What gives?
A sample video, you mean? The opening cinematic is done except for the voice, but I'm trying to keep things under wraps until they're really polished.
Also, in case it helps potential VAs come up with their idea of the character...
I've decided that Kligsen will be a survivor of the UED mission from Brood War who is in hiding on Mar Sara, trying to keep his origins secret. This means I'm less inclined to give the character a Southern accent.
Professional actors do that sort of improvising all the time, so of course I don't see it as a problem.
The part of Zolthanon has been cast, but I'm still taking auditions for the others. I meant to keep all the parts open until the 20th, but the successful audition for Zolthanon was amazing, and the guy (Ganthir) agreed to do all the sound editing for the part. How could I turn that down?
That's a good point about the dialog. I hope I did better in that regard with the marshal's lines. Kligsen wasn't initially intended to be southern; I originally wrote the part with myself in mind, then realized my voice sucks.
If you're interested, please record the audition lines listed for the part(s) you might want and email me the sound files at [email protected]. Ideally, I'd like to get all auditions by Sept. 20, but if you need more time just let me know.
Main characters needed, with audition lines:
These characters will have 30-50 lines each.
Ryan Kligsen. Male, 30s. This is the mercenary main character. A hard-boiled, hard-ass hero type, possibly Western-inspired. Could go a lot of different ways with this character.
"Those who sell bootleg fuel should be prepared to take on the local law. If he can't do that, Robbie deserves what's coming."
"You do wrong by her, there *will* be trouble."
Zolthanon. (CLOSED) Male. A protoss high templar. This voice will be heavily altered on my end. For a sample of what protoss voices sound like, see
"Your lives will end, perhaps today, but the memory of a warrior's glory is eternal. Join me there, in eternity!"
"You may wish to guard your thoughts."
Justin Escalio. Male, 30s or 40s. The well-spoken, scholarly leader of the cult, who offers Kligsen his job. Turns out to be evil.
"Hadn't you better save these for later, when the Dominion catches up with you? You know they'll come hunting for you now... cop killer."
"I need a new commander for the military arm of a large organization. According to your former War Pig comrades, you're a man with skills and few scruples."
Minor characters needed:
10-20 lines.
Colonial marshal. Male. A corrupt local cop who loses in a showdown with Kligsen. Should have a Southern or Texas accent.
"I do what I want with what's mine. Lorie, for example. Come with me, darlin'."
Lorie. 20s or 30s, female. An on-and-off girlfriend of Kligsen killed by the marshal. Could have a Southern accent, or not.
"He's my brother, Ryan. You know he can't stand up against the marshal."

Just to announce, I've made the casting decisions.
Escalio will be played by Johnny O'Neal.
Kligsen will be played by Scott Stoked.
The marshal will be played by Darkwolf.
Thanks so much to all who tried out. I had a really tough decision to make.

This is stupid. The best video game villains are to be found in the good RPGs, where characters are the primary focus of the game.
The real winner should be some Bioware villain, like Saren, Loghain or Darth Malak.

I'd love to know the answer to this myself.

Got it, thanks. Keep trying to persuade your wife. Female voices are hard to find!

I'm looking to cast four male parts and one female for my upcoming campaign, SC2: Purity of Form.

Interesting... it does seem glitchy with MULE.
Thanks!
