    posted a message on Will WASD movement ever become lag free?

    One of the things i am noticing with WASD movment is that SC2 is not really using the commands as a static button press. In Hungry Baneling if you pay attention to the bottons available for movment under the Baneling UI, the "MOVE" button is constantly flashing. This tells me that the WASD movment is not movment at all but a command that says to move in one direction a fraction of a distance then do it again, over and over again. This would account for a good majority of the lag as the game is having to "think" about each movement fraction every time. Perhaps there is a way to actually tell the game that if the button is pressed to just continue moving -1 or 1 in the dirction pressed until the button is released. Not to check which direction is being pressed so many times a second.

    I have been playing this ever since I saw this in the custom games. The new update released for it has made it incredibly easy and would just like to post a few gripes....

    -The name should be changed to Crawler Defence as it is ppossibe and easier to just build and upgrade Crawlers to beat the map. No Lurkers needed.

    -The creep generation from the crawlers generates an insane amount of lag as I had noticed that each crawler generates it's own layer of creep the creep does not combine. So if you have 55 crawlers in your maze, that is 55 layers of creep the game is having to render.

    -Losing units if you move into a teamates area is kinda counterproductive. Sometimes there are leaks from both sides and someone else has to help clean it up before it reaches the end. It would be nice to be able to help and get the spoils and not lose my hero unit. I understand this prevents griefing but as it is a team based game, everyone wins, or everyone loses.

    I am enjoying the current updated mobs though. the new abilites on each mob definatly add to the flavor. But some flying units, or units immune to the effects of the creep would be nice. Just something that prevents me from ONLY building lurkers to win.

    Thank you kindly....I will review these and post if any further help is needed.

    As far as the multi targeting, i am starting to think they made this editor just a tiny bit more difficult than it needed to be. I understand that this gives and incredible amount of freedom when it comes to the hardcore developing but for now i am just trying to get this TD to work. Warcraft 3 it was just a matter of setting the Max target amount and the missile to display. No programming needed.

    Hello all,

    I would like to throw myself in the pool of testers here. I have an extensive background for game testing most of them from Disney. While i will not be able to help with triggers and the such, i am excelent at noticing balancing issue, spelling errors, missing tooltips and hotkeys, and even odd collision detection and enviroment clipping. Keep me in mind. I prefer Tower Defence maps as i have an unhealthy obsession with them.

    Well the nuking problem has been fixed. But I have noticed some other small problems. Most notibly is the Unit cap now in place. Once this has been reached no one can build anymore. But the cap is not restricted to one side. It is a global cap. So this can result in some serious one sided battles than are completly unwinnable. People are starting to take advantage of this...save their money and mass carriers. The little ships in the carriers, once spawned, count into the cap. So people are racing to mass carriers and deny the other side the ability to build. Now while this may freeze the building on both sides, once the enemies being overpowered have been nuked, some people are actually coordinating mass Void Rays to fill the cap asap thus denying the other team completly with the ability to build or even defend them selves. Perhaps changing the cap to a team based restriction rather than a global cuttoff.

    Mmmk,

    I have gone over many areas of the forums here. i have also watched some of the videos detailing how to make a basic TD in this new editor. One of the main videos, actually Titled "making a Basic TD" while they seem helpful, just seems like they are not using the exact same editor as I am. So I will provide a small list of what I am looking for an hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. This would be very much appriciated. As a small note, I am the author of the little known "Steelgrid TD" in Warcraft 3. I have somewhat of an understanding of how to do what i need to, I am just lost in this new editor. So here goes.

    -I am trying to make custom towers. Is there a simple Step by Step tutorial of how to make the tower, change the actor to what I want (not a custom artwork just something in game), and have it upgrade to other towers. I know this can be done just cannot figure it out.

    -Same as above but for units. Also I have noticed in some TD that the sounds have been impoted from Warcraft 3, how would I do this?

    -Multi-targetting. In "Steelgrid TD" I had made a tower that fired at 4 targets at once with missiles. Is there a way to do that in this?

    I know this has probably all been asked before but the resourcses I have found are either still coonfusing or again, does not seem they are using the same editor as I am. it is only subtile changes but its enough to throw me off. If at all possible a text tutorial would be nice. Something readable that I could follow step by step until I learn the finer points of the editor. I thank you for your patience and for reading this. PLEASE HELP!!!!
