At one point I was not able to modify the speed of the unit "Queen" and changing the Artifact- Assembled on Char's Nova cooldown would also crash my editor. I was using Win7 and decided to try the editor in WinXP. It ran 5X slower in WinXP but it rarely ever crashed. I have since then (2 weeks later) gone back to using it in Win7 and have not had any crashes from the previously mentioned incidents. Maybe it was all my bug reports with expletives for what I was doing at the time of the crash?
I put together this video tutorial as I have seen it talked about a lot on SC2Mapster forums. This took me several days to figure out originally so it may or may not be the best way to accomplish the task. This video is about making "passive abilities" for your Hero that you can level up. Forgive me for the terrible quality as this was the first tutorial I've ever put together. This is also the first Blizzard game I have ever tried to develop a map for, so I am still learning the SC2 Editor myself.
NOTE: I am working on a second part to this video that will explain how to make the passive buttons and I also talk about level requirements and the Requirements section of the data editor.
Sorry for the video quality, I recorded this in 4:3 and edited it in 16:9 by mistake. It's still readable and I think you will get the idea. It was my first tutorial and I'm a noob at video editing, so take it for what it's worth.
There are a lot of threads already posted about how to use dialogs. I believe there may even be some tutorials on these forums or YouTube. You can try and use the search function for "dialogs"
I will make a video tutorial guide tomorrow on how to level auras/passive abilities for your hero. Basically, anything you can use level points on that isn't an actual click and use ability.
If you search these forums I believe there is a thread explaining how to do it, maybe I will make a guide for it but I am currently busy with the Alpha stage of my current map.
Basically you need a "dummy" ability you can upgrade and create a count of this as a requirement for your behavior. Meaning add all the behaviors to your hero as if you would learn them, but add a requirement that the count ability learned at unit required for each level for the behavior to take effect.
If you still can't figure it out, find out if there is any youtube/forum tutorials on this subject. If there is not I will make one.
EDIT: Validaters are only used for certain applications, this should not be one of them. 9/10 you can accomplish task with requirements if you know what to do. For instance, when you want a hero to have an ability to learn at level 2, 4, 6 or 1, 3, 5, etc. you can use complicated validators or a single requirement. The requirement also let's you add custom text which is a nice affect as well.
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it's messing up my game play. After my set of triggers I can no longer view the mini map and my Command Cards are all gone, for every unit.
