    posted a message on HOW TO? channeled ability (like mage's arcane missiles in WOW)

    im trying to make a ability that u channel like a mage's arcane missile from WOW. for those of you who dont know, it's a spell that you channel for x amount of seconds and every x seconds it shoots some arcane missiles at the target, the only thing different it that my spell will also stun the target while it's being channeled on. (so the only way to break free from the channeled ability is for a ally to kill the unit casting the ability)

    can anyone please help? im decent at making abilities but ive never made a channeled one. also if ur good with beams (i only know missiles) i want a CONSTANT colossus beam to go between the casting unit an target unit until the casting unit dies. (stop casting)

    can someone make/direct me to a tutorial for adding visual effects for when a unit aquires a behavior (prefer the data editor rather than triggers) im trying to do differnt things like:

    Sentry guardian shield around a single unit when they aquire a certain buff.

    fire "doodad" on a unit when it has a certain debuff

    Time warp visual when a unit has it's spell damage increased by a buff.

    Those are just some examples of what im trying to achieve. thanks guys have a great day an happy mapping

    no, it's a bug in either the editor or their B.Net service. becuase the game loads perfectly every time in single player. alwell as the fact that none of my triggers run at map initialization other than to preload banks. i've disabled most of these triggers and no luck. so yes, it's a editor bug, and yes, the editor is much more faulty than their previous ones. several times i've had to re-write code, data, and triggers becuase it randomly deletes them in my map... so please if you dont have a solution to my problem, please read and move on to the next post. thank you an have a great day

    Hello everyone im currently working on a ORPG style map called Shattered Soul ORPG: The Dark Void, and for some reason the game crashes every time at the loading screen, it used to have a custom loading screen but i deleted it and used a normal screen after reading somewhere that this could be causing the problem, yet to no avail. if anyone has any idea how to prevent this from happening please tell me, im trying everything outside of blowing up the map. thanks and best of luck to all the map makers dealing with this shy excuse for a editor...

    im havinga similar, but more issolated problem, my preload and sync trigger is working for some save files, but not all.

    in my map i have 6 save files, for 12 players, and i was doing testing on my map in single player and files 1,2 4,6 will load, but 3 and 4 wont when i start a new game. but ALL of them work with saving/loading all the correct info in the same game, so im left to think it's the preload trigger at map initialization. but i've proof read it at least 10 times and i cant find inconsistencies. what could be causing this? I really need to know becase im making a ORPG and i dont want people to have to keep starting over because my save files arny loading =(

    ah i see, the problem is that i've already DLed the trial version earlier to import wow models and it ran out =( thank you though, im sure this'll still help countless more until WoWmodelviewer team gets exporter working.

    also an update, im looking for someone who has a SOLID Third Person Camera system set-up that i can use, at this time i am NOT looking for WASD movement as the lag associated with it will not be favorable for my map. i'd like the camera to always face the direction the hero is facing, using right clicks on the ground as movement. also looking for some nice RPG custom UI, but i need hotkeys for spells, and i am under the impression Dialog UI's cant do that.

    I'm also still looking for dedicated ALPHA and beta testers, the map is coming along pretty nicely, and i'm almost done setting up all the basic game mechanics, allowing me to start working on game content more closely.

    Please feel free to check out the map on B.net (Shattered Soul ORPG: The Dark Void) and let me know what you guys think.

    Though, i do think that the attachment points dissaper with the current converter, if thats true, then you cant attach them yet.

    I hope that they add support for it (if they havent done so already, i have not had time to check), since currently it is almost impossible to find any units using bows. It is kind of frustrating.

    Sorry for posting here, i was looking for help/tutorial so i figured this would be the place to put it.

    ive been trying to attach them via the data editor in Galaxy editor not the WOW model converter. although i too hope they add support for attaching weapons and characters.

    tital says it all, i've imported a couple humanoid creatures into my map, and a couple weapons, and i cant seem to get them to hold the weapons

    EDIT: i've got the attached model to show up on the unit, the only problem is that it's almost "frozen" in air, when the host unit moves the attache weapon stays still, also the weapon faces the wrong direction.

    hey ive been looking for a third person system for an RPG map im making, im curious, with this system, can the player select other units and such? but still only keep the camera on their "hero". also my RPG allows for 12 players, how much network traffic will this cause using the WASD system?
