An interface contest really should be judged by a panel rather than a popular vote. Seriously, you can't judge an interface's usability or effectiveness through a youtube video or some pictures; it's got to be tested in-game. And we all know that hardly anyone is going to actually try these out in-game before voting.
I could make something really flashy and fun, but it would be almost useless in-game because instead of being functional and minimalistic, it would be distracting and probably bloated. For an idea of what I mean, SCMapper's entry borders on the bloated/flashy, but is just light enough to consider having in a map.
Anyway, I suggest a judge panel using the equally-weighted criteria of form/layout, function/usefulness, and appearance. If it's a popular vote, appearance will probably be the vast majority of the contest, even if the winning item is useless in most scenarios.
I still don't understand the popularity algorithm. My horribly broken (CRASH ON LOADING SCREEN) version of Evolves Redux is the one that reached the top 10 on the US list. The many versions before and after that broken one are not popular, but the one that instantly crashes rose to the top 10 very quickly.
And I'm merely graduating from high school. Maybe. Of my six classes, four are Advanced Placement. Since the beginning of the year, I have had A's and B's in every class, except for AP English Literature... Let's just say that my grade in that class would look like a typo on my transcript.
Hopefully I'm not alone here. I suck at SC2 and can't expect to make maps while losing to copper-leaguers. I've lost each and every single one of my ranked matches, and I've lost most of my qualifiers.
Can a mapper still make it while sucking this bad? I don't think so. To be good at game design, especially in an RTS, one has to be able to do fairly well at a game, at least enough to be able to understand why a game works right. Since I clearly don't have that kind of analytical ability, I'm wondering if my IQ is even in three digits. I try my best and suck at it (and every other competitive game I know of), even though I have been gaming since I was five years old.
Anyone else out there who should die in a hole and rot due to their permanent incompetence? Post here! Don't post if you're in silver league or above, or if you have a girlfriend, or if you have a job/car/house/etc.
Confirmed, except for the bit about the player properties list exploding. I noticed this as soon as the patch came out, but couldn't link it to anything (all of the maps I'm working on right now use 16 players) until now.
This is an extremely serious bug. We should probably spam Blizzard with this particular bug, since it's easily the worst of any of the game or editor bugs we've seen yet.
Edit: This bug should be posted on the front page somewhere. Lots of people are going to be wondering why their map suddenly exploded.

AI Pathing Unit Cost (function). Returns -1 if it's impossible for the parameter unit to reach the parameter target.
Yeah...

That isn't going to stop anyone, you know.

This is immensely useful. This should definitely be standard issue to anyone using banks.

A surprising amount of that trailer was merely touched-up IN-ENGINE FOOTAGE. StarCraft II practically looks as good as Crysis.

Blizzard removed some assets that used to be there. I'm assuming that it will be replaced for the retail version.

I haven't done much testing on that matter, but I'm fairly sure it can be any two players.
0
Setting any two players to none results in the game getting published.
Also, the patch 12 bug is fixed. The map will save and open and test correctly with all 16 players in. The map just won't be published.

It's as the title says. You can't publish maps with more than 12 players defined as "user". Tested and confirmed.
HUGE EDIT: It works with 14, for some insane reason. But 15 and 16 are definitely nonfunctional.

halfthought is correct. I worry about my own abilities to create new games if I can't get a good handle on a current one.
I've narrowed down my failure to inability to micro, though.

I am certainly not a casual gamer. Not even close.
That fact only makes this matter worse.
