    Blizzard own this game. And the Editor. If they plan to release a few maps (which will obviously happen not that often) under desired name, why would they even care about some nerd-rage person who has so-so map with the same name? They have even sent nice e-mail to you, meh!

    Recruiting a Modeller for half-finished Campaign

    Hello, everybody!
    About 4 or 5 monthes ago I have started this Campaign and I am working on it all my free time untill this very moment. My goal is to create fairly simple campaign without any too complicated trigger-galaxy work, instead I focus more on interesting gameplay, great story and cool cinematics. To get those good cinematics done I need pretty big amount of custom animations and nice detailed (for close-ups) characters to apply the animation to. Just a note: lot of animations were already shot by me using MoCap system at my work.

    Something about the Campaign and what's already done

    So. it took me around 3 monthes to write the design document, then rewrite it and rewrite a few more times to get completely satisfied with the storyline. My design document currently consists of 200,000 letters :) This means, basically, that everything is planned and all is left is to work and make things done!
    Talking about map-making, I have finished by roughly 80% all terrain/texturing/doodad work on all 12 maps. Last 20% were left for possible final polishing and cinematic areas which I am working on at this time.
    Also, using very cool optical MoCap system at my work I got shot around 80 animations and cleaned up/prepared them for importing to any other 3d package (let's say, 3ds max ). More probably will be shot later on, depending on what will we actually need.

    A couple of words about me

    I am a person who you can call jack-of-all-trades. A couple of years ago I was working on a MMORPG project as a level designer for around 2 years, but later on I was lucky enough to get a job in the film industry as a junior animator, a little bit of modeller/sculptor and a technical specialist where I am working by now.
    So here I am, trying to get even higher, making my own projects and learning new things :)

    The Team

    Now, the team consists of me as jack-of-all-trades, a data and triggers person and a sound designer, who will hopefully join and do his thing once all the cinematics will be finished and ready for sound editing and voice acting.

    Requirements for a Modeller

    I am looking for a person who will be responsible for making around 10 next-gen models from a scratch. It will be 5 human characters, 1 alien humanoid (2 variants - different armor and such), 1-2 hostile animals and probably something else.
    Human and an alien models should come in 2 different forms. 1 is in-game unit roughly the same quality as standard units. And 2-nd form is more detailed, probably, 1k tris more or maybe even more. This is for close ups for cinematics, when the camera will be very close to the character.
    Also the modeller will be responsible for texturing, specular, normal map etc. Should know (or be willing to get to know) how to import a model, materials and animation to SC2. Also will be good if the modeller is interested in creating basic rig and to skin the characters.

    Although, I can (and more likely will) animate the character myself, if the modeller knows animation, it might be great experience for this person to work with animations for units, including making them from scratch (as an animator I could give some advises and stuff on animation) and also working with mocap data I provide.

    Hey. I want to make units walk on the lowest cliff level, however it looks like it has blocked pathing for ground units by default. Is there any way to make it walkable besides switching all units to be flying ones?

    Erm, a person who is so damn bothered by a random bad word to report a map should be... I can't even describe his state of mind. Must be something similar to a fanatic vegan. Why blizzard's politics about such things is so agressive? Doesn't make sense.

    Ye, Lotr is awesome. Watched the films, read the books (hobbit and Lotr itself) like 3 times, and time to time listening to audio book (voice actors there are so damn good). However I find Silmarillion sort of boring. Shame on me, but I didnt manage to read more then around 30-40 pages. Pure boredom.

    This too, I have some skills related to video montage and editing, but after all I am more interested in cinematic directing. I've watched some cinematics/machinima made in WC3 and SC2 - the ones people very like, however many of those have pretty poor camera/composition/drama work and not as effective as they could be (considering awesome quality of the maps themselves). So I was wondering if people would like to have a person in their team who can make it look quite a bit better. But according to "popularity" of this thread, they dont ^^

    Let's say you have a project, it may be some kind of camplaign or whatever. You already have all needed workers, - terrainers, data editor guys, trigger man etc. So I am curious, would you take a person who will be responsibe for making cinematics (cut-scenes if you wish) look good? A person with some knowledge about directing, montage and basics of drama.

    Just asking :) In a few monthes I will finish my own campaign and I am thinking if people will want this kind of person in their team.

    Edit: Think I wasn't clear enough and the thread was moved to recruitment. I do not actually look for a team now since I am pretty much busy with doing my own stuff and was just curious if people would even consider to have a cinematic person in their team.

    posted a message on Anyone using drawing tablet with Galaxy Editor?

    I use my Wacom intuos4 M for terraining and texturing, it feels pretty good. Though I avoid using it for placing stuff like trees and such since with 1 stroke it places more trees then I actually need, so working with doodads I prefer mouse.
