traceline does not seem to be what either of us are asking for. i may be wrong, but i believe supreme commander is an RTS with no hero units and many, many vehicles, i think we both need this without mouselook.
Traceline have nothing to do with heroes or mouse look, it's a way of understanding what is located between 2 points.
Finally figured out how to use the UnitGetAttachmentPoint function today, but i do have a question.
The point it returns is correct in X and Y position + the rotations. But the Z is always 0.
Anyone know how to get around that problem?
And i also wonder if you can use a exsisting attachment point as refrence?
The part about skyboxes is that they are kinda not there... just a refrence... so you won't ever hit a skybox.
To be able to shoot into the sky you just change the traceline function to stop when you hit the map edge..
Is it a "top down" style camera?
And is your mouse rotation on or off?
If both cases are yes then just make a pan with the desired offset you want every 0.x amount of secs.
If not then make a dummy pivot-object and move it relative to your hero.
YEA I EVEN LEFT A POST THERE BUT STILL NO LUCK..CAN SOME AT LEAST LINK ME A TUT ON HOW TO COPY AND PASTE THE WAY HE ASK...IM SO LOST WHEN IT COMES TO HOW TO THIS
I don't think people will aid you if you go for caps.
And if you don't add p0rn or copyrighted material i don't see how you should get banned from Battle.net for making a map. ^
You do a traceline from your unit towards the camera eye, and if you do a collision hit before the camera distance then limit it to the traceline's first hit (-0.2)
Alright, but will you cover that in your tutorial? Im not sure how to even start..Im thinking of doing it with just triggers but now Im not sure If I should do it with missiles instead.

Did you try setting the "ignore placement requirements" flag?

Well im sorry for the delay. Me and TheKC are working on something with this that goes beyond what you could call a "tech demo". Stay tuned.

Its because you have to add the effects to them your self or do it with triggers.
