posted a message on % health passive problem

I'm having trouble with a passive ability that grants a % of life as a bonus. I am currently using an ability that is linked to behaviours that increase the vital maximum fraction per level of the ability. The ability works perfectly, increasing the right amount per level of the ability. However, I have just introduced a modification into my veterancy behaviour that increases life per level. The passive ability is only giving me the life gain using the hero's lvl 1 HP.

    Example:

The hero's life at lvl 1 = 100. Hero's life at lvl 2 = 200. The buff grants 10% bonus life (vital max fraction 0.1).

If the ability is learnt at lvl 1 the hero's life becomes 110 (correct). When he lvls to lvl 2 it becomes 210 (should be 220).

Moreover, if the ability is used at lvl 2 his life becomes 210 (should be 220).

So it seems that the passive is only using the units base health at lvl 1

Is there a way to a) make the ability relative to the unit's current base HP. and b) make the ability scale when the unit gains life max due to veterancy lvling?

I honestly don't know. I looked at that field and it looks to be full of triggers (something I haven't looked at yet). They all seem to be set to marine2 which is right for the soldier. Is there a specific part I should be looking to change?

Wow, you're weapon swap demo is super impressive! I'll be sure to learn as much as possible from it! I'm sure I can work out the second part from learning from that demo. At the moment I have an inventory with an equipment bag but from looking at the demo I think it'll look a bit neater having it all on the command card. Thanks again, you've just given me hours of tinkering to do XD

Yeah, exactly as I did on the marine. The shields are not showing even at level 0, before any upgrades (they are on the marine).

posted a message on (solved) Mass Effect Weapon System

I am creating the soldier character from mass Effect 1. I have created 4 different rifles which are available to purchase from a shop and are able to be dropped and equipped etc. I want to create a system similar to ME by which you can have 1 of each of the 4 weapons (pistol, shotgun, rifle, sniper rifle) and be able to switch to them quickly (using hotkeys 1, 2, 3 and 4).

Now here's the complicated bit. The soldier has abilities that require that you have a certain weapon class equipped in order to use them. How would I make it so that when a rifle is equipped the soldier's passive (rife proficiency) and rifle-specific active ability (overkill) are made available to use, but abilities for other gun classes are not?

So I wanted to add a shield to my hero unit. He's based off a marine and has veterancy, one passive ability, life armor, and equipable weapons. I followed this tutorial which worked like a charm for marine units, but not for my hero.

The issue is that the icon is not showing in the UI.

I've checked that I've set buttons and everything. In fact, I exactly copied the process in the tutorial but the shields show up on the marine units but not on my hero. Any ideas?

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial! I do have a problem though. Although this method works for marines, I have created a custom hero with levelling and abilities. Although I am getting the benefits of the shields the icon is not showing up. I have set the buttons and have gone through exactly the same procedure as outlined in this tutorial but the marines show the icon whereas my hero (he's called soldier) is not displaying the icon. Any ideas?
