If you have added the .mod file into your dependencies, you have only put in the models into your map, you then have to manually create new units and give them those models, or copy them from the original Left 2 Die map.

Nobody will want D2 gold...when they can have real cash. Lets be honest with ourselves. The human race is greedy, and it's with real money we become richer, not virtual money. Having a Real Money AH will run the other out of business.

    Nah, I foresee 2 situations:

    1) People can't be arsed to pay the small fee to put up an item on the $AH , so they put em up on the gold one instead, where people buy them for gold and put them onto the $AH

    2) (I think I read somewhere that D3 Gold can be itemized, so then this would apply) The value of gold is weird, so people sell stuff on the gold AH and then sell the gold they made on the $AH where people buy that gold to buy items from the gold AH to put onto the $AH

Edit: Also, there will always be lower quality items that are nearly worthless on the $AH that people will instead put up on the gold AH

@Tolkfan: Go But now it just looks like a waste of time if you can just buy the items for real money.

Because everybody who plays Diablo "seriously" today actually farms their gear (with exceptions of course). If you look at the current Diablo 2 playerbase, Diablo 2 today is rushing your character to lvl 80 in diablo/baal-runs, putting your stats in certain stats optimal for your build and then buying the gear needed to make that build as good as possible, because it takes too long to actually find every item required yourself. Not a lot of people actually -plays- the game anymore. Which is a shame.

What Blizzard is doing is accepting that people are playing Diablo like that, and instead of letting shady websites start up the same business in Diablo 3, they embrace it, support it themselves and wrap it in a secure and reliable method for players. While players themselves can make some money off of it as well.

Who cares if Blizzard takes a small % of that, really. They aren't putting in items and selling the power themselves which is what I am strongly against. It beats the crap out of the current system people are buying Diablo gear from. I think it's a ballsy and interesting move. If it means that much to you to not buy and sell gear, then just don't buy and/or sell gear. Go find it yourself and laugh at the lame people who aren't enjoying the game. It's not an MMO so it won't affect you as much as people think it will.

Matchmaking is also putting you up against people with equivalent gear and stats like you, so you will only notice them if you PvP after you've farmed all that gear and then you can beat the crap out of them. And you won't notice them otherwise because you will most-likely play the PvE with a few of your friends.

It's a player-run economy of supply and demand. If people start gold/gear farming just to make money the supply will be much greater than the demand and the farmers won't make as much money and might eventually give up. (They won't though.)

If you're going for WC3 units, I'll attach some pics of some versions of em I made in the model viewer a couple years ago if you need inspiration (don't know what the gear-items are called, but you can see what is possible)

As for your knight question, I prefer the first one because it is more true to the actual wc3 Knight.

Just wondering how to make the unit spawning at the same time as the night time action. And I also need to know how to make all enemies burn and die at sunrise

My tip for you would be to open up the map "THanson02.SC2" in the campaign tab when you load a map file and take a look in the Scripted Events>Day/Night Cycle folder, it has everything you need

posted a message on Before you flame Blizzard. . . again. . .

I've been waiting for an opportunity like this lately to show more dedication to this forum, being one of the moderators and all.

    Quote from ProzaicMuze: Go

THE CATCH: I want at least 2 other people who will run through the maps with me. You need to be knowledgeable in at least one section of the editor (Data Editor excluded).

I will gladly join you in on that as a "knowledgeable terrain person", if you let me that is. Even if we play in different regions, if we're on skype there's no reason we can't start up the map at the same time and discuss even if we're not in the same game.

I could also take you up on that tutorial offer, if I knew what people want a terraining tutorial about.

I do editor-stuff for the sole reason that it is a fun way to pass the time and might end up giving people fun ways to pass their time, and I have something at the end of it that I can look at and say to myself "I made that", if it gets extremely well-known and liked I see that as a bonus-prize, as long as I can look at it and be proud of what I've done.
I always set out to do the best of what I am capable of, which also is the reason why a lot of things I start doing never get finished.
But hell, I can't lie and say that the road up to the point where I can't be arsed with it anymore has ever been anything but dull.

I'm surprised that there are so many people that focus so much on acknowledgement and being noticed that it lets a system that doesn't work the way you want it to ruin the fun in mapmaking for you. You wouldn't be here if you didn't enjoy making maps. (Unless you just like to complain about stuff, of course)

posted a message on Map help please

Start with a day/night cycle, like Nebuli suggested. My tip would go with this one by QMJC, I used it yesterday and just modified some values to suit my need and it worked perfectly.

And after that, I would think the monster attacking part could be solved by a "If, Then, Else" trigger that runs at the same time as "Environment - Set lighting to Mar Sara Campaign Night, blending over 15.0 seconds" which checks if you have a fire, and if you don't you can do "issue order - attack guy without fire"

Didn't really go into so much detail, but I hope it gives you an idea on how to go about it.

posted a message on Custom made model have no textures(Help)

And if what Exaken said doesn't work, I'm not sure if it works the same as importing WoW Models, but you could try importing the textures first, right click and move them to root, save and close the map and then open the map up again, import the .m3 and save the map.
