posted a message on Apply Force doesn't work properly

I'm trying to make an ability that applies a slowing buff to all units within an area, and when damaged the units should be knocked back a short distance. I got the first part working, but I can't get the second one to. I've tried combinations using Source/Caster/Target for the Unit and Location, but only Target seems to work, but that knocks back the attacking/damaging unit rather than the unit with the behavior. With some settings (I think by using Caster or Source), the damaged unit is knocked back *some* times, not always.

    Here's what I have:
    Ability:
     - Search
     - Apply Primary Behavior

    Primary Behavior:
     - Damage Response: Handled: Knockback Set (the Knockback is based on part of the Hybrid's Shockwave ability)
     - Knockback Set: Apply Controller Behavior and Apply Force
     - Force: Amount is 8, and as I mentioned, I tried fiddling with Unit/Location, and even tried to reference other effects with it (ie, Knockback Set: Target, Search: Target, Apply Controller Behavior: Target etc)
     - Controller Behavior applies Real Behavior via its Initial Effect
     - Real Behavior raises and then lowers the height of unit (an actor also plays the "flailing" animation while it's on)

Any ideas what's wrong/what can I do to fix it?

the maps posted last minute will fail so why care?

Why would they fail? o.O Or, to be more precise, why do they have lower chances at winning compared to the other maps?

Anyways, nice list! I like seeing organized lists that provide (multiple) links. :D

Shame there will be no new MP units, was kinda the norm for Blizz expansions, but I can see how it'd be a nightmare to balance that it currently is if even more units were in.

On another note, I'm really looking forward to Mercenary-type or Evolution Strain-type units for 'Toss, hopefully with some new exotic features (like Strains) rather than just +stats (like Mercenaries).

posted a message on Will you switch to modding Heroes of the Storm?

I'll definitely be trying it out, I hope we'll be able to make more than just new battlegrounds though (just like we can make more than just melee maps in SC2). Though, I think I'll be sticking with SC2, due to the number of assets for it (as in, models, icons, textures, sounds, etc). I assume exporting between HotStorm-SC2 won't be hard though, since it's the same engine.

@Crazio: Go Well, SC1 had only 10~ missions per campaign, which left even less space for character development (total of 60~ missions compared to a total of 90~ or so), but it was pulled off better than in SC2 (imo). It also didn't have any hub like the Hyperion and the Leviathan, which are a pretty good source for some more char development.

Don't leave your hero half-finished and move on to the next one. I don't know whether this is just me or what, but half-baked heroes end up in the trash can more often than not

I think this could be applied to many more things too. Better to have, for example, 10 complete abilities than 100 unfinished half-functional ones, in my opinion.

Could I feasibly bang out a hero that uses existing SC2 abilities in a shorter time frame?

Most likely, yeah, since making custom abilities and fiddling with actors is the most time-consuming part of making a hero (I assume, at least, never made a hero myself, but that's what takes up most of my time when making custom units).

"StormCampaign"? And here I thought HotStorm would be an online-skirmish-only game, like all the other AoS games out there. :P Wonder how they're gonna pull off a SP campaign though (assuming they will).

Wow, that looks amazing! Love what you did with the lighting there. Also, regarding the arcade contest, I say do it. It could draw more people to play the whole campaign(s) if they find the map interesting.

Another issue with SC2, in my opinion, is that Strategy is mostly about memorizing. Following a build and pulling it off at the exact specific time(s) seems to get desired results, from what I've seen/played. It always felt like there was a wider range of options to work with in WC3, for example, and a build would still work efficiently even if you followed it loosely than step-by-step. That made watching matches more exciting (for me, at least), since you didn't -definitely- know if a player would go for X or Y.

@Gradius12: Go That was aninteresting read, wonder how I didn't even notice/think of most of the things mentioned there while playing WoL. Guess gameplay was good enough for my brain to ignore (most of) them. Any similar review for HotS?

This is certainly helpful! I'll be working on some campaign-like AIs rather soon, and I probably would've missed few things pointed out here.

I was wondering, though, what exactly are Bullies and Flags/Flag Indexes? If I understood them correctly, Bullies are units the AI will always recreate (until told not to), and Flags are basically booleans? (Sorry if this is derailing the thread, just thought I'd ask since the topic was regarding (campaign) AIs.)

That was a pretty cool video, should bring in more people to the Arcade, I guess. I wish he showcased different maps and mods though, there's better ones he could've picked. I also didn't really like how almost half the video was a Starbow match, while the rest of the maps got only 5~ mins of showtime. :X

Hmm, that name sounds kinda familiar. Anywho, nice vid, informative on what SC2 is and how to play it.

Title coulda been different tho, like "Help SCMothership get to GSL!" or something, looks better than plain "Needs views!" imo :P
