I am currently trying to use the Starcraft2 editor and my long lost knowledge of the Warcraft3 editor to create a visualization/ example for self-organizing pattern formation. To this end I created a forest consisting -of course- of trees which can repetitivley burn down. If ignite the forest "correctly", I can see a flame front in the shape of a rotating spiral.
Since I would like to use this for the upcoming science days at my university, I wanted to make a movie from the map. So I wanted to ask:
What could I change, so that the video looks better/more interesting? I feel like it's kind of boring :/
Do you know a program to record the the in-game cinematics?
1. I think adding sound effects or music might help make it more interesting. You could also zoom the camera out to get a bigger picture of what's happening. I would also modify the minimap boundary to encompass only the trees to get rid of that extra space on the minimap. Additionally, you could play around with the lighting to make the fire more visually appealing (by adjusting the bloom and saturation, for example.)
Finally, make a firebat kill a zergling to "accidentally" start the fire. That one's just for fun ;)
2. I'm sure there are better recorders out there, but currently I'm using Debut to capture game footage. It's free, easy enough to use, and does the job.
I tried the Debut recorder, but I am getting a lot of black frames in my video. Is the workload too much for the GPU or did I not the right recording options?
I have seen the same problems before, when I tried recording the game with FreeScreenVideoCapture.
I changed the graphics option in sc2 to low and set the frame rate to 60. But that did not help :/
Try going into your Starcraft 2 options menu and setting the display option to "Windowed (Fullscreen.)" A lot of recorders won't work on games set to Fullscreen.
Hi again, I am stuck on a very unexpected problem:
One of my triggers depends on a unit gaining a behavior, so I used "Unit attribute change". Then a whole area gains another behavior-2.
The first behavior does only set an effect after 2 seconds and is necessary for an actor to start.
The problem is, that the trigger is never activated, even though the triggering behavior is applied :/
Can you help me?
If you attach the "Burn a tree" behavior to the observer, all trees in region "rain" should light up, but they don't :(
Do I need to periodically check if the behavior is applied?
Also: How could I create rain-doodads, once a certain event fires?

Good luck with your project!
Dear Jan,
I like pretending i'm formal.
Anyway, I can answer my own way now! :)
1.) ^ He covered all of it. But instead of fire bat, why not hellions? ):, No1 likes hellions.
2.) Bandicam, there's a watermark, but you could always get it. "Otherways"..
WARNING: In default settings, the sound is VERY LOUD.

@BasharTeg: Thanks a lot, finally I could produce a video :)
